Observational Study
High glucose load and endotoxemia among overweight and obese Arab women with and without diabetes: An observational study.
Dietary intake influences gut microbiota activity. Nevertheless, there is a lack of evidence available that illustrates the acute effects of high glucose meal on metabolic endotoxemia. The present study assessed the acute impact of high glucose meal on endotoxemia and other clinical parameters in Saudi females with varying degrees of glycemia. ⋯ HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides, significantly decreased in the T2DM group after 2 hours (P values <.05), whereas unremarkable changes observed in other groups. Lastly, endotoxin levels significantly increased only in the overweight group (3.2 ± 1.1 vs 4.2 ± 1.4 mmol/L; P < .05), 4 hours postprandial. High glucose meal elevates endotoxemia only among overweight subjects and impairs dysbiosis.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the leading cancer affecting humans; however, the relationship between tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and patient prognosis in RCC is relatively unreported. This study aimed to investigate the relationships among factors (TIL, clinicopathological characteristics, and patient prognosis in RCC). This retrospective study evaluated 533 patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) deposited in the the Cancer Genome Atlas between 2004 and 2015. ⋯ Stage and neoplasm histological grade showed associations with the neutrophil fraction. The correlations between TILs and prognosis and clinicopathological characteristics in ccRCC were demonstrated. The prognosis of ccRCC patients may differ according to the TIL fractions.

HIV-1 persists indefinitely in multiple cellular reservoirs despite antiretroviral therapy. We previously demonstrated HIV-1 compartmentalization in kidney and urine. Here, we further characterized viruses in urine and when available, compared them to those present in semen from HIV-1 positive participants with detectable plasma viremia to further understand the viral dynamics in the upper and lower genitourinary tract. ⋯ Comparison of urine and semen derived sequences demonstrated either virus compartmentalization or equilibration. Our results demonstrate that when present, viral compartmentalization in urine persists over time. Comparison of timing of viral shedding in urine and semen samples from our cohort suggest different viral kinetics between the upper and lower genitourinary tract and sequence analysis suggests that HIV-1 populations in urine and semen can either be imported from blood or produced locally.

To describe the mobile chest X-ray manifestations of deceased patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In this retrospective study, we analyzed in patients with COVID-19 from Tongji Hospital (Wuhan, China), who had been died between February 18 and March 25, 2020. Two radiologists analyzed the radiologic characteristics of mobile chest X-ray, and analyzed the serial X-ray changes. ⋯ Among the 24 patients who had serial mobile chest X-rays, 16 (67%) patients had the progression of the lesions, 8 (33%) patients had no significant change of the lesions, and there was no case of reduction of the lesions. The mobile chest X-ray manifestations of deceased patients with COVID-19 were mostly bilateral lung, multifocal involvement, and extensive lung field, and pleural effusion, pleural thickening, and pneumothorax probably could be observed. The serial mobile chest X-ray showed that the chest lesions were progressive with a high probability.

A recent paper in the journal Neuroreport suggested that, upon source localization, the semantic P600 localizes to executive function areas, that is, outside language. But is this true for all types of linguistic P600? We report a cross-sectional source localization study of a classical (agreement) syntactic paradigm. The results show a clear localization to the temporal lobe, in classical language areas. The P600 is probably not a unitary phenomenon in term of source localization, and the question whether it localizes within or outside the language system depends on the type of P600.
