X inactive specific transcript (XIST) is a novel long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) which has been reported to be frequently upregulated in various human cancer types and to function as an oncogene. It has been reported that the expression of lncRNA XIST was upregulated in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In the present study, we aimed to investigate the clinical significance and prognostic value of XIST in patients with NSCLC. ⋯ Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that XIST expression level (hazard ratio = 2.645, 95% confidence interval: 1.672-7.393, P = .029) was an independent factors in predicting the overall survival of NSCLC patients. The present study found that XIST expression level was significantly associated with advanced pathological stage and high TNM stage in NSCLC. Furthermore, upregulation of tissue lncRNA XIST predicts poor postoperative survival in patients with NSCLC.

Myeloid sarcomas (MS) are defined as rare extramedullary masses composed of immature myeloid cells. MS mostly develops in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and involves primarily the skin, soft tissues, bones, and lymph nodes. Pleura and pericardium involvement of MS are extremely uncommon. Polyserositis is also a very rare extramedullary presentation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). ⋯ Polyserositis can be an extramedullary presentation of AML. Patients with polyserositis should undergo routine flow cytometric analysis. For AML with extamedullary infiltration, systemic chemotherapy should be administered in all confirmed cases.

Hepatolithiasis commonly occurs in the bile duct proximal to the confluence of the right and left hepatic ducts, regardless of the coexistence of gallstones in gallbladder or the common bile duct. Clinical research proves that minimally invasive surgery is effective in the treatment of hepatolithiasis. Although previous meta-analysis also shows that it could reduce intraoperative bleeding and blood transfusion, and shorten hospital stay time, there are few meta-analyses on its long-term efficacy. We conducted the meta-analysis and systematic review to systematically evaluate the long-term efficacy and advantages of minimally invasive hepatectomy in the treatment of hepatolithiasis. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/H6WRV.

The efficacy of 5-element therapy for senile diabetes with depression: A protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Senile diabetes with depression is a common and frequently-occurring disease, and it is also a difficult and hot point in domestic and international research. However, the efficiency of combination hypoglycemic agents and antidepressants in the treatment of senile diabetes with depression is poor, and new intervention methods are urgently needed. Research shows the 5-element therapy, as a Chinese traditional non-drug intervention, has definite curative effect on the prevention and treatment of various physical and mental diseases. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to evaluate the efficacy of 5-element therapy on senile diabetes with depression. ⋯ INPLASY2020100081.

Venous leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is a malignant tumor arising from the smooth muscle cell of the vein wall. The diagnosis of venous LMS is usually delayed owing to its rarity, absence of serological markers, and mimicry with deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Herein, we report a case of a primary external ilian vein LMS characterized by long-term, unexplained DVT in the left lower limb. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) played a crucial role in the preoperative diagnosis. No improvement was observed in the lower limb status; a rapid, high-level, heterogeneous wash-in and wash-out mass of the vein, as seen with CEUS, could indicate angiogenic malignancy. CEUS also helped evaluate the percent of intratumoral necrosis, which is an important parameter for predicting the prognosis. ⋯ Effective imaging techniques and differential diagnosis of venous LMS is vital and should be considered for patients with chronic thrombosis presenting with normal laboratory results.
