Despite the rapid advances in medical technology, including endovascular interventions and medications, cerebral vasospasm (CVS) after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is still one of the major threats to the lives of patients with SAH. In East Asian countries, various types of herbal medicines have been used to treat cerebrovascular diseases, including SAH. In this review, we aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of herbal medicines for the prevention and treatment of CVS after SAH. ⋯ Ethical approval is not required, as this study is based on a review of published research. This review will be published in a peer-reviewed journal and disseminated electronically and in print.

Pituitary stalk interruption syndrome: A rare case report and literature review.
Pituitary stalk interruption syndrome (PSIS) is a congenital pituitary anatomical defect. It is characterized by the triad of thin or interrupted pituitary stalk, absent or ectopic posterior lobe, and hypoplastic or aplastic anterior lobe. Moreover, this condition is considered rare. ⋯ PSIS is a rare disease with various clinical characteristics. During the neonatal period and infancy, the signs and symptoms of PSIS are often not evident. Therefore, diagnosis is delayed. The early detection of hormone deficiency and treatment initiation can affect both the quality of life and the prognosis of patients with PSIS. Thus, the diagnosis and treatment of this disease must be improved to help patients achieve a better quality of life and to prevent reproductive health problems.

COVID-19 has spread globally since its outbreak in late 2019. It mainly attacks people's respiratory system. Many patients with severe COVID-19 require a ventilator to support breathing, and their lung function is often impaired to varying degrees after ventilator weaning. Acupuncture has been reported to improve respiratory function, but there is no evidence that it can improve respiratory function in ventilator users with COVID-19 after they are removed from the machine. The protocol of the systematic review and meta-analysis will clarify safety and effectiveness of acupuncture on respiratory rehabilitation after weaning from the ventilator during the treatment of COVID-19. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42020206889.

We performed a meta-analysis to more precisely evaluate the association between the cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4) -1772T/C polymorphism and overall gastric cancer (GC) risk and the influence of ethnicity and the source of controls on that association. ⋯ Our meta-analysis showed that the CTLA-4 -1722T/C polymorphism may be associated with the susceptibility to GC. However, the slight correlation can only be reflected in specific populations and gene models. Therefore, we believe that this association is negligible. The large and well-designed case-control studies are needed to validate our findings.
