The effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) and glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists on major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in type 2 diabetic subgroups defined by race, ethnicity, and region are unestablished. ⋯ SGLT2is and glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists can significantly reduce the risk of MACE in most type 2 diabetic subgroups defined by race, ethnicity, and region, whereas they fail to do it in Black individuals.

Randomized Controlled Trial
The efficacy of a nursing care and follow-up program for patients with heart failure: Study protocol for a randomized controlled trial.
Heart failure (HF) is one of the primary causes of the increasing public health costs, incidence rate and mortality of heart disease. As treatment options for the HF have evolved, people have a better understanding of overall burden of HF, resulting a more centralized method for the treatment of these patients with chronic diseases. At present, with the rapid progress of medical technology, the nursing mode must be updated accordingly. The objective of this trial is to investigate the effects of the program of nursing care and follow-up on life quality, self-care, and the rehospitalization of patients with HF. ⋯ We hypothesize that the nursing care conducted for the HF patients may improve the life quality and self-care.

MicroRNA 221 has been found to be a good marker for several cancers. Some studies also focused on the relationship between microRNA 221 and glioma. However, the results are controversial. We aimed to systematically evaluate the prognostic role of microRNA 221 in glioma through performing a meta-analysis. ⋯ In conclusion, high expression of microRNA 221 was related to poor prognosis of glioma. These findings may assist future exploration on microRNA 221 and help predict the prognosis of glioma. However, due to the significant heterogeneity of these studies, more studies are warranted.

Meta Analysis
The association of CDKN2BAS gene polymorphisms and intracranial aneurysm: A meta-analysis.
Intracranial aneurysm (IA) is one of the main causes of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) leading to a high percentage of disability and mortality worldwide. In addition to environmental factors, the risk of rupture or prognosis of intracranial aneurysm is also closely related to gene. ⋯ Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis of CDKN2BAS SNPs to explore its association with intracranial aneurysms and the results show a significance relation between rs10757272, rs1333040, and rs6475606 with intracranial aneurysm. This will open a new perspective for future intracranial aneurysm gene research and therapy.

With dissatisfaction of western medicine, traditional Chinese medicine becomes alternative treatment for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis patients. The common syndrome of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is qi and yin deficiency syndrome. The prescription, Modified Maimendong Decoction (MMD), is usually used for IPF patients with qi and yin deficiency syndrome. However, there is no convinced evidence for the efficacy and safety of MMD to treat IPF. ⋯ The results of this trial will provide the evidence for the effect of MMD in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
