The effects of the intercondylar notch morphology on predicting anterior crucaite ligament (ACL) injury in males were unknown. We aimed to determine the risk factors of the intercondylar notch on ACL injury, and evaluate the predictive effects of the morphological parameters on ACL injury in males. Sixty-one patients with ACL injury and seventy-eight patients with intact ACLs were assigned to the case group and control group respectively. ⋯ The maximum value of area under the curve calculated by combining all relevant morphological parameters was 0.966. The ACL injury in males was associated with NW, NH, NWI, CSA, and NA. These were good indicators for predicting ACL injury in males.

Development and validation of a driving simulator for evaluating the residual effects of drugs on driving performance - sensitivity analysis using zopiclone as a positive control: Study Protocol Clinical Trial (SPIRIT Compliant).
Drugs acting on the central nervous system (CNS), especially hypnotics, can impair driving. The US Food and Drug Administration started requiring pharmaceutical companies to evaluate the residual influence of CNS agents on driving performance to review their recommended doses. Although it is important for physicians to discuss automobile driving while on medication with patients to promote traffic safety, the package inserts of most CNS agents in Japan uniformly prohibit patients from driving. Although more evidence-based information regarding the effects of drugs on driving performance is needed, the current evaluation methods for driving performance abroad cannot be applied directly to Japanese drivers because of differences in traffic environments, laws, and constitutions. Therefore, we plan to establish a new driving simulator (DS) that would enable the next-day residual effects of drugs on driving performance to be examined. ⋯ In this double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, crossover trial, we plan to recruit 26 healthy Japanese males aged 21 to 64 years through advertisements. During the test periods, which will take place twice every other week, the participants will undergo a DS evaluation in the hospital for 2 days/1 night after the first and last doses of the study drug following 8 days of administration. The participants in the study drug group will take zopiclone 7.5 mg at bedtime on the first and eighth days in the hospital, and placebo on the other days. The DS evaluation consists of road tracking, car following, and harsh braking tests. The primary outcome is the standard deviation of lateral position (SDLP), which is a gold standard evaluation item, in the 60-min road-tracking test. The exploratory outcomes are other evaluation items in the DS tests, in the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale sleep questionnaire, and the Profile of Mood States Second Edition rating scale. The estimated difference in the SDLP between the zopiclone and placebo groups will then be calculated.

Renal insufficiency is an important predictor of contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI). We performed a meta-analysis to examine the effects of short-term statin therapy on the incidence of CI-AKI, particularly in patients with renal insufficiency. ⋯ Statin pretreatment is effective at preventing CI-AKI and should be considered in patients with preexisting renal insufficiency.

The therapeutic efficacy of 177Lu-DOTATATE/DOTATOC in advanced neuroendocrine tumors: A meta-analysis.
Somatostatin analog therapies showed great potential for patients suffering advanced neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). This study was aimed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of Lu-DOTATATE/DOTATOC (Lu-octreotate/octreotide) peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) in advanced or inoperable NETs patients. ⋯ In advanced NETs patients, DRRs and DCRs were significantly elevated after initial treatment with Lu-DOTATATE PRRT, which shows that this treatment would be beneficial and promising for advanced or inoperable NETs patients.

Influence of hand and smartphone anthropometric measurements on hand pain and discomfort: A cross-sectional study.
A good mobile phone design may increase the productivity of users, as well as their comfort. To achieve mobile users' satisfaction, there is a need to come up with an ideal measurement that would not strain the human's body parts used to control the devices. To investigate the correlation between smartphone and hand anthropometry measurements and the development of hand discomfort and pain.89 Ahlia University students between the ages of 17- and 30-year-old participated in this study. ⋯ For the phone screen size and the hand lengths (r = 0.22, P = .13) there was weak positive correlation. Mobile phone manufacturers should take into account the users' comfort when designing their phones as this could lead to hand pain and other musculoskeletal problems. Furthermore, hand pain is multifactorial so hand size; phone size and grip strength may be taken into account.
