Meta Analysis
Clinical efficacy and safety of stem cell therapy for knee osteoarthritis: A meta-analysis.
We performed a meta-analysis of the efficacy and safety of stem cell therapy as a clinical treatment of knee osteoarthritis. This meta-analysis is expected to provide evidence of the efficacy of stem cell therapy, which is currently controversial, as a conservative treatment for knee osteoarthritis. ⋯ Stem cell therapy is certainly superior to traditional treatments in the conservative treatment of KOA; it considerably reduces pain with no obvious additional side effects.

Prognostic role of the pretreatment C-reactive protein/albumin ratio in gastric cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
In recent years, several studies have investigated the prognostic role of the pretreatment C-reactive protein/albumin ratio (CAR) in gastric cancer and yielded conflicting results. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to assess the prognostic role of the pretreatment CAR in gastric cancer. ⋯ A high pretreatment CAR was significantly associated with poor survival for patients with gastric cancer. The prognostic significance of the pretreatment CAR in gastric cancer is need to be confirmed by clinical trials of large sample size.

Multicenter Study
Expanding pancreas donor pool by evaluation of unallocated organs after brain death: Study protocol clinical trial (SPIRIT Compliant).
Pancreas graft quality directly affects morbidity and mortality rates after pancreas transplantation (PTx). The criteria for pancreas graft allocation are restricted, which has decreased the number of available organs. Suitable pancreatic allografts are selected based on donor demographics, medical history, and the transplant surgeon's assessment of organ quality during procurement. Quality is assessed based on macroscopic appearance, which is biased by individual experience and personal skills. Therefore, we aim to assess the histopathological quality of unallocated pancreas organs to determine how many unallocated organs are potentially of suitable quality for PTx. ⋯ The comprehensive findings of this study could help to increase the pancreas graft pool, overcome organ shortage, reduce the waiting time, and also increase the number of PTx in the future. Registration number: ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT04127266.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Evaluation of the effects of photobiomodulation on orthodontic movement of molar verticalization with mini-implant: A randomized double-blind protocol study.
Loss of a dental element can generate several repercussions in the stomatognathic system. According to the latest survey by the Ministry of Health, in 2010, Brazilian adults had, on average, 7 missing teeth. This loss may lead to movement of the adjacent teeth and the antagonist, which would make prosthetic rehabilitation harder to do. Anchoring systems, such as mini-implants, have been increasingly used as a treatment option because they act with heavy but controlled forces and without side effects. Recent studies have shown that photobiomodulation (PBM) can accelerate orthodontic movement in molar intrusion. The objective of this study will be to evaluate the effect of PBM on the acceleration of the orthodontic movement of molar verticalization and its effect on pain and inflammation of the periodontal tissues. PATIENT CONCERNS:: the concerns assessments will be done over the study using anamnesis interviews and specific questionnaire. ⋯ This protocol received approval from the Human Research Ethics Committee of Universidade Nove de Julho (certificate number: 3 533 219). The data will be published in a peer-reviewed periodical.

Whether or not increased hospitalizations and/or deaths due to cardiovascular disease during major football tournaments (MFTs) remains controversial. We undertook a systematic review and meta-analysis of published studies to assess the relationships of cardiovascular events and MFTs. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis showed an increased risk of hospitalization due to non-fetal acute cardiovascular events and cardiovascular mortality with watching MFTs.
