Review Case Reports
Completely ossified thoracic intradural meningioma in an elderly patient: A case report and literature review.
Spinal meningioma is the second most common spinal neoplasm that commonly occurs in middle-aged women. As a rare histological variation of meningioma, completely ossified meningioma (OSM) and its standard surgical strategies have been reported. However, the surgical outcomes of elderly OSM cases (age >70) are less investigated. Herein, we intend to present an elderly OSM case and review the elderly OSM cases in published literatures. ⋯ Our report indicated that the surgical outcome can be satisfying in elderly OSM patients, while the post-operative complications frequently occur due to the poor physical condition of elderly patients. As a result, treatment of peri-operative complications of elderly OSM patients also deserves greater attention along with surgical resection.

This meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of glucocorticoid versus traditional therapy for hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). ⋯ Glucocorticoid is more effective for reducing the T-bili level, significantly decreasing in-hospital mortality and ascites events in HBV-related ACLF patients. Moreover, bilirubin may play a pivotal role in the early stage of HBV-related ACLF progression to advanced liver failure.

Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Comparison of HAS-BLED with other risk models for predicting the bleeding risk in anticoagulated patients with atrial fibrillation: A PRISMA-compliant article.
The HAS-BLED, HEMORR2HAGES, ATRIA, and ORBIT scores are used to predict bleeding risk in anticoagulated patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Recently, these scores have been validated in various studies. Therefore, we aimed to compare the occurrence of major bleeding across different risk categories between HAS-BLED and any of HEMORR2HAGES, ATRIA, or ORBIT scores. ⋯ Compared with any of HEMORR2HAGES, ATRIA, or ORBIT scores, the HAS-BLED score distributed more major bleeding events into the "low" or "moderate" risk categories.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Unilateral versus bilateral balloon kyphoplasty in treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures: A randomized controlled trial protocol.
It is currently controversial whether unilateral or bilateral balloon kyphoplasty (BKP) is superior in terms of postoperative outcomes in treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF). In this context, the aim of this study was to prospectively evaluate and compare the radiographic and clinical outcomes of BKP using unilateral and bilateral approaches. ⋯ We were able to directly compare the outcomes of unilateral versus bilateral BKP and might reveal a better technique in OVCF.

Pathological scar is the abnormal manifestation of skin fiber hyperplasia caused by the failure of normal healing after skin damage. At present, there are many clinical treatments for pathological scars. However, there is no cure for clinically effective pathological scars with high recurrence rate. In this study, we will use a combination of Chinese and western medicine treatment methods to evaluate the clinical efficacy and related indicators of young and middle-aged female patients who meet pathological scars, looking for an objective and effective treatment method for pathological scars. ⋯ This trial may provide evidence regarding the clinical effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine for patients with pathological scars.
