To compare the effects of sutures and staples for skin closure of surgical wounds. ⋯ Due to the lack of high quality evidence, we could not state if sutures are better than staples in terms of wound infection, readmission rate, adverse events, and postoperative pain. With a low quality of evidence, sutures reduce postoperative pain and improve grade of satisfaction with the cosmetic outcome.

The pathogenesis of myasthenia gravis (MG) has strong connection with thymic abnormalities. Thymic hyperplasia or thymoma can be found with most patients. Thymectomy is currently one of the regular treatment in clinic, which is, however, still controversial for non-thymomatous MG. This research will assess the effectiveness and safety of thymectomy plus prednisone compared to prednisone monotherapy for the treatment of non-thymomatous MG systematically. ⋯ CRD 42020167735.

Efficiency and safety evaluation of prophylaxes for venous thrombosis after gynecological surgery.
In this study, we investigate the incidence of venous thrombosis (VT), and evaluate the effectiveness and safety of 3 major thromboprophylaxes and the potential risk factors for VT in women undergoing surgery for a gynecological malignancy. ⋯ In conclusion, the incidence of postoperative thrombosis in gynecological malignancy among these Chinese people is not as low as we had originally presumed. Argatroban is not more effective than Parnaparin as a direct thrombin inhibitor, but it has less influence on liver function, which is beneficial for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Hemoglobin, D-dimer, and prothrombin time may be used to predict or detect thrombogenesis.

Infection is a major trigger or pathogenic origin in a substantial proportion of glomerulonephritis (GN) patients, typically manifesting infection-related GN (IRGN). Various microorganisms, infection sites, and clinical and histopathological features are involved in IRGN. Once an infectious origin is identified and successfully eradicated, nephrotic syndrome or kidney dysfunction is spontaneously resolved. However, if patients are asymptomatic and the origin is undetermined, the diagnosis and treatment of GN is challenging. This case presentation reported on an IRGN case manifesting steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome associated with asymptomatic sinusitis as a pathogenic origin. ⋯ This case presentation showed that asymptomatic sinusitis is potentially a pathogenic IRGN origin. A gold standard therapy for idiopathic GN, corticosteroid could be damaging in uncontrolled or underdiagnosed infection. In asymptomatic patients, a thorough screening of infectious diseases, including sinusitis, together with a renal histological evaluation of glomerular nephritis-associated plasmin receptor deposition is also essential in treating a wide spectrum of GN.

Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused a worldwide epidemic since its discovery. The outbreak of virus infection has aroused great concern of the World Health Organization (WHO). COVID-19 is highly infectious and has a high infection rate. So far, no specific drug has been found to cure it. China as one of the first countries attacked by epidemic has shown outstanding in fighting against the COVID-19. The contribution of traditional Chinese medicine can not be ignored. As a kind of representative of traditional Chinese medicine, the Chinese patent medicine injection has significant effect in reducing the clinical symptoms of patients and preventing the deterioration of the disease. However, there is no systematic review of its efficacy and safety. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese patent medicine injection in the treatment of COVID-19. ⋯ Evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of Chinese patent medicine injection in the treatment of COVID-19 will be provided to clinicians.PROSPERO registration number: CRD42020182725.
