Paclitaxel (PTX) has become a widely used second-line therapy for advanced gastric cancer. There exists controversy whether targeted therapy combined with PTX can provide additional benefit over PTX alone. Therefore, a meta-analysis was carried out to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the two therapy regimes. ⋯ Second-line PTX+targeted therapy is a more effective treatment option with tolerable safety profile for advanced gastric cancer as a result of improved survival, though with additional toxicity.

Herpes zoster (HZ) involving sacral dermatome is very rare, which can sometimes cause voiding dysfunction. ⋯ A caudal block with steroid can be an effective option for treatment of acute voiding dysfunction and pain following sacral HZ.

Resection of a large intratracheal tumor with severe obstruction via flexible bronchoscope remains a formidable challenge to anesthesiologists. Many artificial airways positioned proximal to tracheal obstruction can not ensure adequate oxygen supply. How to ensure effective gas exchange is crucial to the anesthetic management. ⋯ HFJV at the distal end of tracheostenosis is a suitable ventilation strategy during flexible bronchoscopic resection of a large intratracheal tumor.

Pyrotinib is a novel dual pan-ErbB receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, approved for the treatment of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC). However, there was still limited information regarding specific effect of pyrotinib on HER2-positive MBC patients with phosphoinositol-3 kinase mutation. ⋯ Our clinical observations demonstrated that pyrotinib may be an effective treatment for patients with HER2-positive MBC.
