Previous studies indicated inconsistent results for the treatment effect of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on post-stroke aphasics. The study conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate whether the rTMS with different frequencies demonstrated any effect in patients with post-stroke aphasia. ⋯ In conclusion, we provide preliminary evidence that both LF-rTMS and high-frequency-rTMS might be relatively effective and safe treatment for post-stroke aphasics. However, LF-rTMS mainly plays a short-term role in subacute post-stroke aphasics. Longer-term and large-scale studies are essential to explore the effect of rTMS with different frequencies on post-stroke aphasia.

Mitochondrial encephalomyopathy with lactic acidosis and stroke- like episodes (MELAS) syndrome is caused by mitochondrial respiratory chain dysfunction and oxidative phosphorylation disorder. It is a rare clinical metabolic disease involved with multiple systems. ⋯ Mitochondrial DNA of blood and hair follicle of patient carried m.10158T>C mutation LESSONS:: For the suspected patients of MELAS syndrome, if the hot-spot mutation test is negative, more detection sites should be selected.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), especially non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, which is considered as the hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome, has a great prevalence all over the world. New drugs are urgently needed for the treatment of NAFLD. This review will be to assess the efficacy and safety of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) on liver-related outcomes (liver histology and liver enzymes) in patients with NAFLD. ⋯ INPLASY202050008.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-COV2 and represents the causative agent of a potentially fatal disease. Jinhua Qinggan granules has definite effect in treating COVID-19 patients, but it has not been systematically evaluated for efficacy and safety. ⋯ CRD42020182373.

Hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1), an important component of angiogenesis, is activated as a response to tumor hypoxia and facilitates tumor survival. Several case-control articles stressed the connection between lung cancer danger and HIF-1α gene polymorphism, but the conclusions were conflicting. Thus, this meta-analysis was carried out to assess the connection between HIF-1α gene polymorphisms (rs11549467, rs11549465, and rs2057482) and lung cancer risk. ⋯ Subgroup analysis showed rs11549465 and rs11549467 increased lung cancer risk among Asians, but not whites. HIF-1α rs2057482 was unrelated to the risk of lung cancer in Asians and whites. HIF-1α gene rs11549465 and rs11549467, but not rs2057482, increased the risk of lung cancer among Asians.
