Coracoid processes (CPs) fracture with acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation are extremely rare. This combined injury has brought many challenges to surgeons, and the mechanism underlying the injury is still not fully understood. There is no clear consensus on its treatment. ⋯ Although AC joint dislocation with CP fractures is extremely rare in adults, it is important to remind and remember that this possibility exists. In unclear cases, special radiographic films and CT are necessary. Surgical treatment of AC joint dislocation with CP fractures can provide solid stability and restore normal shoulder function with an excellent prognosis.

The safety and feasibility of transradial approach for cerebral angiography has been confirmed previously. However, this approach has been limited used due to the difficulty during the procedure. This study aimed to introduce a pigtail catheter tailing and long-wire swapping technique to improve the success rate without increasing complications. ⋯ The success rates of angiography in the right internal carotid artery, right vertebral artery, left internal carotid artery, and left vertebral artery were 100%, 100%, 98.9%, and 98.9%, respectively. No serious complications were observed in all patients. The pigtail catheter tailing and long guidewire swapping is considered as a safe procedure with high success rate for loop construction using a Simmon-2 catheter through the right radial artery, subsequently improving the success rate as well as the efficiency of angiography.

Association between the use of antibiotics and efficacy of gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel in advanced pancreatic cancer.
It is unclear whether the use of antibiotics is related to the efficacy of gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel (GnP). Therefore, we investigated the association between the use of antibiotics and efficacy of GnP. We conducted a retrospective single center study from January 2014 to December 2018 in Hokkaido University Hospital. ⋯ The median progression-free survival was 5.8 and 2.7 months (hazards ratio [HR] .602, 95% confidence interval [CI] .391-.928, P = .022) and the median overall survival was 11.0 and 8.4 months (HR .768, 95% CI .491-1.202, P = .248) in the U and not use antibiotics groups, respectively. Antibiotic use (HR .489, 95% CI .287-.832, P = .008) and locally advanced pancreatic cancer (HR 1.808, 95% CI 1.051-3.112, P = .032) were independent prognostic factors for progression-free survival. Antibiotic use was associated with a higher efficacy of GnP, and therefore, it may be employed as a novel treatment strategy.

Cataract surgery contributes to ocular axis growth of aphakic eyes in infants with complex microphthalmos.
To observe the ocular axis, visual acuity and intraocular pressure (IOP) of aphakic eye in infants with congenital cataract and complex microphthalmos after first-stage cataract surgery. This retrospective study included infants with congenital cataract and operated at the Qingdao Eye Hospital between January 2010 and December 2014. The infants were divided into 2 groups: preoperative axial length <18 mm (microphthalmos) or ≥18 mm (controls). ⋯ The axial length was smaller in the microphthalmos group at all time points compared with the control group (all P < .001). There was no changes in IOP in the microphthalmos group from baseline to 24 months (P = .147), but the IOP was slightly decreased in the control group (P = .015). Cataract surgery may contribute to ocular axis growth in infants with complex microphthalmos.

Evaluating waiting time with real-world health information in a high-volume cancer center.
Wait time and scheduling for outpatient chemotherapy administration depends on various factors including infusion room hours of operation, availability of oncologists, nursing and pharmacy staffing, and physical space limitations. The aim of this study was to use the electronic event log of patients on health information system (HIS) to map and analyze patient flow in advanced metastatic colorectal patients at an academic cancer center. From January 2009 to December 2014, patients who were diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer and received outpatient chemotherapy confined to FOLFIRI (fluorouracil, leucovorin, and irinotecan) or FOLFOX (folinic acid, fluorouracil, and oxaliplatin) were identified. ⋯ After completing the outpatient session, patients waited 1,657.23 ± 3,027.65 minutes before chemotherapy and 46.66 ± 75.94 minutes within infusion room. Compared to the prior first come first serve rule, the new reservation system showed an improvement in overall waiting time from 2,432.3 ± 4,822.9 to 2,386.7 ± 143.4 minutes; however, waiting time within infusion room slightly increased from 36.68 ± 49.33 to 48.13 ± 46.32 minutes. Our findings indicate that transaction data analytics from HIS can be used to evaluate patient flow within oncology outpatient practice based on real-world hospital data.
