Meta Analysis
Effects of Guizhi decoction for diabetic cardiac autonomic neuropathy: A protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Diabetic cardiac autonomic neuropathy (DCAN) is one of the serious complications of diabetes. The pathogenesis of DCAN has not been fully elucidated. There is currently no effective treatment for such chronic disease. Traditional Chinese medicine has a long clinical history for the prevention and treatment of diabetes and chronic complications, and it also shows certain advantages in the treatment of DCAN. Many clinical studies have confirmed that Chinese medicine Guizhi decoction can reduce the clinical symptoms and improve neuronal function of patients with DCAN. So we intend to conduct a systematic review further clarified the effectiveness and safety of Guizhi decoction for DCAN. ⋯ INPLASY202080018.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Optimal induction chemotherapeutic regimen followed by concurrent chemotherapy plus intensity-modulated radiotherapy as first-line therapy for locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
For patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), induction chemotherapy (IC) regimens based on TPF (docetaxel, cisplatin, and 5-fluorouracil), TP (docetaxel and cisplatin), and GP (gemcitabine and cisplatin) have shown excellent survival outcomes as the first-line therapy; however, no trials comparing the efficacy and safety of TPF, TP, and GP have been reported. We report 2 phase II trials comparing the treatment outcomes and side effects of 3 different IC regimens followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy in locoregionally advanced patients with NPC. A total of 206 locoregionally advanced patients with NPC treated with a combination treatment from January 2012 to January 2014 were enrolled in the 2 studies. ⋯ The multivariate analysis demonstrated that the IC regimen was not an independent prognostic factor for any survival outcomes. The patients in the TP arm experienced significantly lower grade 3/4 toxicities than the patients in the other 2 arms. TP-based IC regimen has similar efficacy compared with TPF- and GP-based IC regimens; however, TP-based IC regimen has a lower toxicity profile.

Postpartum depression (PPD) is an episode of major depressive disorder that affecting women of childbearing age. 5-HTTLPR is 1 of the most extensively investigated polymorphisms in PPD. However, the previous results were inconsistent and inclusive. Hence, we performed a meta-analysis to precisely evaluate the association between 5-HTTLPR polymorphism and PPD susceptibility. ⋯ The allelic and dominant models of 5-HTTLPR polymorphism might be protective factors for PPD. To confirm these results, larger number of association studies or multicenter case-control studies are necessary in the future.

Depressive disorder has gradually become one of the most commonly reported disabling psychiatric complication that occurs after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Currently classical antidepressant medications may not have the same effectiveness in patients with TBI as in patients without TBI. Non-pharmacological interventions have been considered to be effective for managing depressive symptoms or treating depressive disorder. But to date the comparative effectiveness of various types of non-pharmacological interventions has been synthesized in few studies, the evidence remains inconclusive. Thus, the purpose of this systematic review and network meta-analyses is to summarize high-quality evidence and identify the most effective non-pharmacological intervention when applied to treat the depressive disorder in patients after TBI. ⋯ INPLASY202080022.

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a common sensory disorder of the nervous system, which often affects the sleep quality of patients. Acupuncture and related techniques are increasingly used to treat neurological diseases, but their efficacy and safety for RLS are yet to be established. The purpose of this study is to summarize the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture and related techniques for RLS. ⋯ CRD42020157957.
