Although obesity is an established risk factor of primary stroke, the association between obesity and post-stroke mortality remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between dynamic obesity status and mortality in survivors of their first stroke in China. Of 775 patients with first-ever ischemic stroke included in a longitudinal study, 754 patients were included in this study and categorized into 4 categories of body mass index (BMI) (underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obese) and 2 categories of waist circumference (WC) (normal WC and abdominal obesity) according to standard Chinese criteria. ⋯ Compared with those with normal BMI or WC, those with abdominal obesity or overweight had a significantly lower risk of all-cause mortality (HR and 95% confidence intervals [CIs]: .521 [.303-.897] and 0.545 [.352-.845], respectively), whereas patients with underweight had the highest risk and those with obesity had lower risk of mortality, though it was not statistically significant (1.241 [.691-2.226] and .486 [.192-1.231], respectively). Overweight and abdominal obesity were paradoxically associated with reduced risk of mortality in patients who survived their first-ever ischemic stroke in China. Future prospective studies must look at evaluating the role of obesity in different stroke subtypes and devise appropriate weight-management strategies for optimal prognoses in secondary prevention in these survivors.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is one of the most commonly seen cancers in children, which mainly relates with inherited genetic variations. Consolidation chemotherapy is usually given to the pediatric ALL patients, however there is no meta-analysis and network analysis conducting the efficacy of the chemotherapy. Therefore, we perform a protocol to assess the efficacy of chemotherapeutics for pediatric ALL. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42019134518.

At the end of 2019, peoples normal lives were disrupted by a sudden plague (COVID-19), the huge impact of COVID-19 on society has never been appeared. How to effectively prevent and treat COVID-19 is a concern for all health care workers. Exercise as a green and cheap complementary therapy, which has been proven to improve the immune capacity of the body and prevent infection. The main purpose of this study is to provide a reliable methodological guidance and credible evidence for exercise on COVID-19 therapeutic. ⋯ The conclusion of our study will provide credible evidence to judge whether exercise is an effective intervention on the COVID-19 patients therapeutic, and guide future researches.PROSPERO registration number: CRD42020200883.

Thyroidectomy has been considered an effective method to treat thyroid cancer. However, about 20% of patients have psychological distress before surgery. Psychological distress is considered common mental illnesses and it has been reported that the patients who suffer psychological distress have poor clinical outcomes than the patients without psychosocial disorder. Therefore, we design this randomized controlled study to explore the effect of psychological nursing intervention against quality of life and psychological distress of the patients with thyroid cancer. ⋯ This study can provide the reliable evidence regarding the influence of psychological nursing intervention against the life quality and psychological distress of the patients with thyroid cancer.

Qigong is a traditional Chinese exercise method for health care, keeping fit and getting rid of diseases. It has the advantages of simple operation and few side effects. Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-COV-2). Its clinical manifestations mainly include fever, fatigue, and dry cough. Clinical practice showed that Qigong had some therapeutic effects on pulmonary dysfunction caused by novel Coronavirus, but there was lacking in evidence of evidence-based medicine. The purpose of this protocol is to systematically evaluate the effects of Qigong on lung function and quality of life in COVID-19 patients, and to add evidence to evidence-based medicine for the clinical application of Qigong therapy. ⋯ CRD42020191877.
