The new coronavirus-related pneumonia is causing a global pandemic without specific antiviral drug. Ribavirin has activity against extensive RNA and DNA viruses. We plan to systematically review the use of ribavirin in patients with coronavirus-related pneumonia and meta-analyze the data with updated studies. ⋯ CRD42020178900.

Nausea and vomiting are the most common complications after chemotherapy, which cannot be completely controlled even with commonly prescribed antiemetic drugs, particularly in patients receiving highly emetogenic chemotherapy Acupuncture therapy is an effective replacement method for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), which effectiveness and safety have been observed by many clinicians. However, different acupuncture treatments have various effectiveness. Based on enough clinical researches, the study aims to uses Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA) to evaluate the effectiveness of different acupuncture therapies used for preventing CINV. ⋯ The result of this systematic review and Bayesian NMA may offer better options for patients in relieving CINV.Systematic review registration number: INPLASY202070070.

Reduced bone mineral density and increased risk of falls are related with Alzheimer disease, and these increase likelihood of bone osteoporotic fractures causing serious complications such as disability, fear of falling, loss autonomy, decreased quality of life, and anticipated mortality in elderly patients. Gait and balance disturb are 2 factors to favor falls in elderly, and in patients with cognitive impairment, the risk of falls increases to double. Exercise and Mediterranean diet produce beneficial effects for aging, cognitive decline, and are widely recommended to reduce the effects of osteoporosis, fall risk, and related fragility fractures. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the short and medium-term effects during 6 months, of a multicomponent physical exercise program with a Mediterranean diet on bone mineral density, fall risk, balance, and gait by a controlled clinical trial in patients with Alzheimer disease. ⋯ This study protocol has been approved by the Ethics Committee of the University of Salamanca. The results will be published in peer-reviewed journals and disseminated in national and international conferences, to the participants and their families, and the general public through the associations of people with AD.

Multiple intravitreal pharmacotherapies including different anti-vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF), intravitreal steroids, and combined therapy with anti-VEGF and steroids are available for patients with macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO). However, the recommendation of multiple therapies remains unknown. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of multiple intravitreal pharmacotherapies in patients with macular edema secondary to RVO. ⋯ This article does not contain any studies with human or animal subjects performed by any of the authors.

Diarrheal disease currently claims the lives of approximately 500,000 children each year. Rotaviruses are the pathogens primarily responsible for more severe cases and more than one-third of diarrhea-associated deaths in children under 5 years old globally. At present, commonly used drug therapies for rotavirus diarrhea in Western medicine, such as oral rehydration salts, montmorillonite, probiotics, and nitazoxanide, often cannot achieve satisfactory curative effects. Moreover, infants' and children's compliance with drugs and injections is often lower than their compliance with acupoint application therapy. A large number of studies have shown that acupoint application can increase the clinical cure rate and shorten the duration of diarrhea. However, there is a lack of systematic reviews on the safety and efficacy of acupoint application in the treatment of rotavirus diarrhea. Therefore, we will conduct a study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of acupoint application for rotavirus diarrhea in infants and children. ⋯ INPLASY202070123.
