Evidence suggests that metastasis is chiefly responsible for the poor prognosis of colon adenocarcinoma (COAD). The tumor microenvironment plays a vital role in regulating this biological process. However, the mechanisms involved remain unclear. The aim of this study was to identify crucial metastasis-related biomarkers in the tumor microenvironment and investigate its association with tumor-infiltrating immune cells. ⋯ The present findings suggest that IRF1 is associated with metastasis and the degree of immune infiltration of CD8+ T cells (general), dendritic cells, T-helper 1 cells, and T cell exhaustion in COAD. These results may provide information for immunotherapy in colon cancer.

This study aimed to improve the diagnostic accuracy of breast diseases by combining breast imaging-reporting and data system (BI-RADS) with the enhancement intensity and pattern of contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) (this combination of BI-RADS and CESM was designated as BaC). BI-RADS was used to evaluate low-energy CESM images. Spearman nonparametric correlation analysis was performed to analyze the correlation between the enhancement intensity of CESM subtraction images and the pathological results. ⋯ No significant correlation was observed between ring enhancement and the benignity or malignancy of lesions. The area under the ROC curve of BaC was higher than that of BI-RADS or CESM, and the difference was statistically significant. The diagnostic efficacy of BI-RADS combined with CESM enhancement was superior to that of either method alone.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common neoplasms encountered, and its incidence is increasing worldwide. In this study, we explored the characteristics of gut microbiota in patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma in advanced stage who received immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) based on a large population with hepatitis B virus infection. An initial cohort of 65 patients with metastatic melanoma were included in this study. ⋯ Conversely, patients with a high abundance of Bacteroidales had a shortened progressive free survival compared to those with a low abundance. In summary, the present study examined the oral and gut microbiome of HCC patients undergoing immune checkpoint inhibitors immunotherapy. Significant differences were observed in the diversity and composition of the patient gut microbiome of responders versus non-responders.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the most common malignant gastrointestinal tumor worldwide. Serum exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) play a critical role in tumor progression and metastasis. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms are poorly understood. ⋯ According to the cytohubba plugin, 37 hub genes were selected, and 4 hub genes including phosphoinositide-3-kinase regulatory subunit 1 (PIK3R1), SRC, cell division cycle 42 (CDC42), E1A binding protein p300 (EP300) were identified by combining 8 ranked methods of cytohubba. The study provides a comprehensive analysis of exosomal DEmiRNAs and target genes regulatory network in CRC, which can better understand the roles of exosomal miRNAs in the development of CRC. However, these findings require further experimental validation in future studies.

Injury of the lateral vestibulospinal tract in a patient with the lateral medullary syndrome: Case report.
Lateral medullary syndrome is a central vestibular disorder characterized by vertigo and ataxia. We report on a patient with injury of the lateral vestibulospinal tract (VST) following lateral medullary syndrome, detected on diffusion tensor tractography (DTT). ⋯ An injury of the right lateral VST was demonstrated in a patient with lateral medullary syndrome. We believe that the result will be helpful in clinical management and research for patients with lateral medullary syndrome.
