Owing to hormonal changes, women experience various psychophysiological alterations over a wide age range, which may result in decreased quality of life as well as in increased risks of diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases. Although studies have been performed to research complementary methods, such as meditation, the research field still requires an adequate amount of studies for public health guidelines. This pilot cross-sectional study aims to investigate a potential association of meditation with menopausal symptoms and blood chemistry for healthy women. ⋯ In HDL level, there was a significant interaction between group and menopausal state (P = .039) with following post hoc results: among the premenopausal participants, a significant increase in the meditation group compared to the control group (P = .005); among the control group, a significant increase in the postmenopausal compared to the premenopausal participants (P = .030). In GLU level, there was a mild interaction between group and menopausal state (P = .070) with following post hoc results: among the postmenopausal participants, a trend of increase in the control group compared to the meditation group (P = .081); among the control group, a significant increase in the postmenopausal compared to the premenopausal participants (P = .040). Our research suggests a potential association of practicing meditation with alleviations in menopausal symptoms and changes in blood chemistry, warranting further studies with a longitudinal study design and larger populations to understand the underlying causal relationships.

Adult Jejuno-jejunal intussusception due to inflammatory fibroid polyp: A case report and literature review.
Intussusception is defined as the invagination or telescoping of a proximal portion of the intestine into the distal portion of the intestine. Intussusception can occur at any age but is more common among children. Most cases of intussusception in adults have a pathological lead point. Inflammatory fibroid polyp (IFP) is a rare benign tumor-like lesion arising from the submucosa of the gastrointestinal tract that can cause intussusception in adults. Here, we report a case of adult intussusception due to IFP. We also present a literature review of 31 reports including 34 cases between 2012 and December 2019, which shows a mean age of 45.4 ± 14.2 years and female dominance (23/34) of intussusception due to IFP. ⋯ Intussusception in adults is rare, especially that secondary to IFP. The most commonly used diagnostic tool for adult intussusception is abdominal CT, and the optimal management is resection of the involved bowel segment without reduction if malignancy cannot be ruled out.

Analysis of the efficacy of holmium laser and pneumatic ballistic in the treatment of impacted ureteral calculi.
To explore the safety and effectiveness of ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy (UHLL) and ureteroscopic pneumatic lithotripsy (UPL) in the treatment of impacted ureteral calculi (IUC). Clinical data of 280 patients in our hospital from April 2016 to May 2019 were retrospectively collected and analyzed, including 136 cases of UHLL group and 144 cases of UPL group. The general clinical data, operation time, intraoperative bleeding volume, hospital stay, stone-free rate (SFR), and surgical complications were collected and analyzed in 2 group. ⋯ There were no significant differences in the complications of local mucosal injury, hematuria, febrile urinary tract infection, ureteral perforation, and urinary sepsis in the 2 groups (P > .05). However, the UHLL group was significantly lower in stone residual rate than the UPL group (6.61% vs 16.67%, P = .001). This study found that UHLL and UPL are safe and effective in the treatment of IUC, but UHLL has the advantages of shorter operation time and high SFR in the treatment of IUC.

Immunoglobulin G4-related disease in the stomach presenting as a gastric subepithelial tumor: Case report.
Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an immune-mediated fibroinflammatory disorder characterized by specific pathologic findings and often, but not in all cases, elevated serum IgG4 concentration. Although it can virtually involve every organ system, cases involving the gastrointestinal tract and especially gastric mass lesions have rarely been reported. ⋯ We reported a rare case of IgG4-RD presenting as a gastric SET. The first line treatment of IgG4-RD is glucocorticoid administration. However, because pathologic examination is challenging owing to the lesion location, preoperative diagnosis is difficult and may lead to unnecessary gastric resection. Thus, using alternative preoperative diagnostic methods such as endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy or the biopsy unroofing technique could spare the patient from unnecessary surgical treatment.

Primary gastric squamous cell carcinoma presenting as a large submucosal mass: A case report and literature review.
Primary gastric squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is rarely encountered clinically. SCC, which presents as a submucosal tumor, is even rarer. Without the support of pathological evidence, it is difficult to make a correct preoperative diagnosis. Due to limited clinical data, the pathogenesis and treatment of gastric SCC remain unclear. ⋯ Large primary gastric SCC could present as a submucosal mass. Gastroscopic mucosal biopsy may not be able to get tumor tissue due to inflammatory reaction.
