Neonatal testicular torsion is a rare condition. There is no consensus about the optimal surgical treatment of neonatal testicular torsions. The salvage rate reported in literature remains poor. Discrimination of the onset of a neonatal testicular torsion seems to have an important impact of the salvage rate. Deliveries out of breech presentation have a risk for neonatal complications including neonatal genital birthtrauma. ⋯ We present this rare case in regard to the current literature and recommend close observation of newborns for genital trauma after delivery out of breech position. We encourage surgeons to carefully consider leaving the testicles in situ.

Dabigatran is a direct thrombin inhibitor that is widely used to prevent the formation of thrombus formation. Amiodarone can increase the plasma concentration of dabigatran. CES1 (carboxylesterase 1) and ABCB1 (ATP-binding cassette subfamily B member 1) genetic polymorphisms associate with the pharmacokinetics of dabigatran. ⋯ Multiple mutations in the ABCB1 and CES1 genes may influence the pharmacokinetics of dabigatran and could have contributed to the thrombus formation in the left atrial appendage.

Expression and clinical significance of aquaporin-1, vascular endothelial growth factor and microvessel density in gastric cancer.
To investigate the expression and clinical significance of aquaporin-1 (AQP1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and microvessel density (MVD) in gastric cancer. A total of 79 gastric cancer patients who were admitted into Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital from January, 2018 to December, 2019 were involved in this study. Tumor specimens and para-cancerous normal tissues (> 2 cm away from the tumor) of all the enrolled patients were collected. ⋯ Spearman correlation analysis showed that AQP1 was positively associated with VEGF expression (r = 0.497, P < .05). MVD was enhanced in VEGF or AQP1 positive cancer tissues compared with that in VEGF or AQP1 negative tissue (P < .05). Synergistic effect among AQP1, VEGF, and MVD is involved in occurrence and development of gastric cancer.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is spreading worldwide. The reported possible neurological symptoms are varied and range from subtle neurologic deficits to unconsciousness. Knowledge regarding the detection, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of COVID-19-associated neurological damage is still limited. We report a case of serious neurological damage and mental abnormalities in a patient who was finally confirmed to have COVID-19 based on IgM and IgG antibodies in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). ⋯ We believe this is the first case involving neural system injury in a patient who confirmed COVID-19 based on CSF antibody test results. Negative ribonucleic acid test results, strong positivity for antibodies, and high protein levels in the CSF suggest the possibility of autoimmune encephalitis secondary to COVID-19. This case highlights additional novel symptoms of COVID-19, and these data are important for the assessment and follow-up of COVID-19 patients.

Underlying factors relating to acute myocardial infarction for coronary artery ectasia patients.
Coronary artery ectasia (CAE) patients were more prone to present with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), this case-control research aimed to explore the underlying factors relating AMI for them. This study investigated a serial of 119 patients who underwent coronary angiography and were diagnosed as CAE between the years 2016 and 2017 at the Beijing Friendship Hospital; 32 of the patients developed AMI and 87 did not develop AMI. ⋯ Logistic regression analysis also indicated that AMI history, lower antiplatelet rate, higher NL ratio, higher low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level and Gensini score, as well as Markis type II were associated with AMI in CAE patients. AMI history, lower antiplatelet treatment rates, poor blood lipid control and higher coronary stenosis extent, higher inflammatory response, and Markis type II were closely related to the incidence of AMI in CAE patients.
