Immunoglobulin A nephropathy in a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1: A case report and literature review.
Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is an autosomal-dominant neurocutaneous disorder that affects the skin, bones, and nervous system. The most common manifestation of kidney involvement is renal artery stenosis; glomerulonephritis is extremely rare. In this case report, we present a patient with NF-1 and immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN). ⋯ A genetic link between NF-1 and IgAN or other glomerular diseases is not established. However, activation of the mTOR pathway may explain this association.

Hypocalciuric hypercalcemia is classified as acquired hypocalciuric hypercalcemia (AHH) and familial hypocalciuric hypercalcemia (FHH). While FHH is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait, AHH is one of the rare acquired diseases and is usually treated with prednisolone. Here, we report a case with relapsing AHH which was well controlled with cinacalcet therapy. ⋯ We should bear in mind that cinacalcet treatment is effective for the treatment of relapsing AHH.

Ocular chemical burn associated with gel type alcohol-based hand sanitizer: A case report.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizers (ABHS) are widely used for hand hygiene due to the coronavirus disease pandemic. However, risk awareness regarding its adverse effects is lacking. We aim to report a case of ocular chemical burn that showed severe clinical presentation associated with ABHS. ⋯ Gel-type ABHS can cause severe form of ocular chemical burn such as delayed ocular surface healing. In clinical setting, immediate and thorough rinsing of alcohol-based gel and early intensive treatment are crucial.

Managing social anxiety among undergraduate adult education and extra-mural studies students: An intervention study.
Anxiety is a significant problem affecting University students including undergraduate adult education and extra-mural studies students. This research evaluated the impact of a group rational-emotive behavioral education intervention (group rational-emotive behavioral education intervention [REBEI]) on social anxiety symptoms among undergraduate adult education and extra-mural studies students. ⋯ REBEI demonstrated its clinical usefulness in treating undergraduate adult education and extra-mural studies students with social anxiety problem.

Otoplasty: a modified Chong-Chet technique with positive long-term results.
In the last few decades, many techniques have been developed to correct prominent ear deformities. Modified Chong-Chet otoplasty represents a new and improved classical Chong-Chet procedure for prominent ear surgery. This study evaluates and compares the long-term results of standard Chong-Chet otoplasty with the modified technique. ⋯ Modified Chong-Chet technique increases the number of positive long-term results and significantly improves the standard method.
