Observational Study
Cancer death and potential years of life lost in Feicheng City, China: Trends from 2013 to 2018.
This study aimed to evaluate the impact of cancer-related mortality on life expectancy in Feicheng City. We extracted the death records and population data of Feicheng City from 2013 to 2018 through the Feicheng Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The mortality, premature mortality, cause-eliminated life expectancy, potential years of life lost (PYLL), average potential years of life lost (APYLL), annual change percentage (APC), and other indicators of cancer were calculated. ⋯ The top 5 malignant tumors in APYLL were leukemia, breast cancer, brain tumor, liver cancer, and ovarian cancer. Lung cancer, esophageal cancer, female breast cancer, and childhood leukemia have a great impact on the life expectancy of residents in Feicheng City. Effective measures need to be taken to reduce the disease burden of malignant tumors.

Individual randomized trials are not powered to assess the relationship between use of sodium-glucose transporter 2 inhibitors and risk of stroke. We sought to explore this issue by a meta-analysis incorporating relevant trials including several latest trials. ⋯ Gliflozins, especially canagliflozin and sotagliflozin, should be recommended in T2D patients with CKD to prevent stroke. Most gliflozins lower the risk of MACE in T2D patients regardless of HF status and ASCVD status, whereas ertugliflozin is not observed to lower that risk.

Bevacizumab is known to be very effective in inhibiting ocular neovascularization in neovascular glaucoma (NVG). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor on the surgical outcome of Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation (AGVI) in NVG. ⋯ AGVI with adjuvant bevacizumab had no significant effect on lowering IOP in patients with neovascular glaucoma compared with AGVI alone. However, the final success rate was higher for AGVI with adjuvant bevacizumab treatment than with AGVI alone.

Meta Analysis
The effectiveness of the problem-based learning in medical cell biology education: A systematic meta-analysis.
Problem-based learning (PBL) was widely adopted in medical cell biology education for Chinese student; however, there was no systematic analysis to prove PBL was much more effective than lecture-based learning (LBL). Our aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of PBL on cell biology curriculum compared with LBL. ⋯ The result indicated PBL was better than LBL in improvement of examination scores and comprehensive examination scores in cell biology curriculum to some extent. However, the satisfaction of students to PBL and LBL had no difference. The factors, including the different teachers, the similar or same examination papers and over 100 student numbers, affected the effectiveness of PBL and raised the heterogeneity of the pooled SMDs.

Case Reports
Role of erector spinae plane block in controlling functional abdominal pain: Case reports.
Functional abdominal pain is an intractable medical condition that often reduces quality of life. Celiac plexus block is a representative intervention for managing intractable abdominal pain. However, celiac plexus block can be technically difficult to perform and carries the risk of potential complications. During erector spinae plane block (ESPB), the injectate can enter the paravertebral space and reach the sympathetic chain. If local anesthetics spread to the sympathetic chain that supplies fibers to the splanchnic nerve, abdominal pain theoretically could be reduced. ⋯ We suggest that lower thoracic ESPB could be an option for management of functional abdominal pain.
