We aimed to summarize the experience of totally thoracoscopic surgery for left atrial myxoma, together with analyzing the safety and feasibility. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 15 patients with left atrial myxoma admitted to our hospital from October 2016 to October 2018. The auxiliary hole was located at the midline of the 5th intercostal space of the right chest. ⋯ No recurrence of myxoma, residual shunt in the atrial septum and valvular lesions were found after 3months of postoperative cardiac ultrasound examination. Total thoracoscopic surgery for left atrial myxoma was less invasive with satisfactory cosmetic appearance with feasibility and safety. Besides, it caused no serious complications.

SARS-CoV-2 could be spread through hospital medication dispensed to patients: A prospective observational study.
Our objective was to analyze in vitro the persistence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) in the packaging material of the drugs dispensed to hospital wards. Additionally, to evaluate if the protection with a double plastic bag prevents the contamination of the medication dispensed to an intensive care unit (ICU). On the first part, different materials containing different drugs within an ICU were sampled to confirm the lack of contamination by SARS-CoV-2. ⋯ In the second part, SARS-CoV-2 was found in all surfaces for up to 30 days. The use of double-bag unit-dose system to deliver medication in a pandemic seems effective to prevent the potential transmission of SARS-CoV-2. A striking SARS-CoV-2 RNA stability of up to 30 days was found in the surfaces containing the drugs.

Effects of attentional bias modification on chronic low back pain in older outpatients: A randomized crossover trial (pilot study).
In the present study, the effect of attentional bias modification (ABM) on older outpatients, with chronic low back pain, was examined. ⋯ There was no change in pain intensity due to ABM. However, the total Pain Catastrophizing Scale score was significantly decreased, and the EuroQol 5 Dimension-3 levels questionnaire and 30-second chair-stand test were significantly improved (P <.05).

Comparative analysis of the recent publication trends in 4 representative journals in the spine field.
We have analyzed and compared the publication trends in 4 representative spinal journals [Spine, European Spinal Journal (EUS), The Spine Journal (TSJ), and the Journal of Neurosurgery - Spine (JNS spine)] from 2016 to 2018. A total of 3784 articles were published in the 4 representative journals: 1358, 1128, 685, and 613 articles in Spine, EUS, TSJ, and JNS spine, respectively. We compared and analyzed each periodical for the time taken (days) for the publication process, the distribution of specialties of the corresponding author, multicity of the investigative institutions, main disease entity, study type, and design. ⋯ The most frequent study type in all 4 journals was a clinical article (79.6, 72.1, 63.3, and 63.1%, respectively). In general, meta-analyses (average 4%) and randomized controlled comparative studies (average 5.2%) accounted for a very low percentage of the study types. We believe that periodic analyses and comparisons of the characteristics of representative spine journals will help to shape the direction of future improvements.

During the recovery period of general anesthesia, patients are disturbed by residual anesthetic drugs, manifesting as clinical signs of confusion, drowsiness and disorientation, and even abnormal psychology and limb agitation at varying degrees in severe cases. These stress reactions are detrimental to the postoperative recovery, which can be life-threatening. Operating room nursing intervention (ORNI) is a novel nursing model that prevents stress reactions during the recovery period of general anesthesia. However, whether ORNI can improve the psychological condition and reduce the incidence of emergence agitation in the recovery period of general anesthesia remains controversial. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effect of ORNI on the psychological status and incidence of emergence agitation in the recovery period of general anesthesia through a systematic review and meta-analysis, thus providing clinical evidence to support it. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/P3A4T.
