Stanniocalcin-1 (STC1) takes part in anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative processes, thus demonstrating neuroprotective properties. Early brain injuries associated with initial subarachnoid hemorrhage typically led to secondary cerebral infarction and poor outcomes. This retrospective study aimed to clarify the clinical significance of serum STC1 level in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage. ⋯ Results of univariate and multivariate logistic analysis revealed that Hunt-hess III-IV, DCI, and high STC1 level were independent risk factors associated with poor outcome of patients with aSAH. Further analysis revealed that combination of STC1 with Hunt-hess grade was more superior to 2 indicators alone in predicting clinical outcome of aSAH patients. STC1 can be used as a novel biomarker in predicting outcome of patients with aSAH, especially when combined with Hunt-hess grade.

The aim of this study was to assess in-stent restenosis (ISR) of coronary artery for patients with CoCr stent using subtraction coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) with one-breath-hold scan on 320-row area detector CT, invasive coronary angiography (ICA) as clinical standard. Patients who were referred for CCTA from January 2020 to May 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Pre-contrast and CCTA was performed with dedicated one-breath-hold subtraction scan protocol and post processing to get subtracted-CCTA image without stent. ⋯ The area under the curve was 0.607 for CCTA and 0.757 for subtracted-CCTA (P < .001) for stent based diagnose, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy of CCTA, and subtracted-CCTA were 90.0%, 97.0%, 95.3%, and 87.5%, 100.0%, 97.43%, respectively. Subtracted-CCTA showed improved diagnose performance for ISR, which potentially reduce further follow-up ICA procedures for patients with CoCr stents.

Muscle involvement with pseudohypertrophy in systemic light chain amyloidosis: Case report.
Muscle pseudohypertrophy is a rare manifestation of light chain amyloidosis (AL) amyloidosis. ⋯ Despite its rarity, muscle involvement should be considered in patients diagnosed with AL amyloidosis associated with unexplained muscle hypertrophy or weakness associated with macroglossia or elevated troponin T levels in the absence of clear cardiac involvement.

Diagnosis and treatment of secretory carcinoma arising from the oral minor salivary gland: Two case reports.
Secretory carcinoma (SC) is a malignancy of the salivary glands, which is similar to SC of the breast regarding its association with neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase fusion-positive gene. SC is a recently described salivary gland tumor, and there are a few reports describing oral minor salivary gland-derived SC. We reported two cases of SC in the oral cavity and reviewed the literature. ⋯ It is highly likely for many cases of SC to be initially diagnosed as acinic cell carcinoma (AciCC) owing to their similar histological findings. The treatment strategy for minor salivary gland-originated SC is similar to that of AciCC; however, SC is often highly malignant and involves a high risk of cervical lymph node metastasis. Thus, establishing an accurate diagnosis together with pathologists and confirming the presence of the ETS variant 6-neurotrophic receptor tyrosine kinase 3 fusion gene using genetic analysis is important.

Few studies have reported an increase in vitamin B12 (VitB12) levels after bariatric surgery. This study reports the phenomenon and adverse reactions of serum VitB12 elevation 1 month after surgery and explores the possible etiologies. Retrospective analysis was performed on VitB12 data for 112 patients from January 2018 to October 2019. ⋯ Constipation is an independent risk factor for increased VitB12 levels after surgery. High levels of VitB12 may cause some peripheral nerve symptoms. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to patients with postoperative constipation, monitor their VitB12 level as soon as possible, and take measures to improve constipation to avoid some adverse reactions caused by elevated VitB12 levels.
