Ocular cicatricial pemphigoid (OCP) is a potentially blinding, rare systemic autoimmune disease. The definite etiology of OCP remains under debate, early diagnosis is important to prevent rapid deterioration. The majority of the discussion has been focused on its medical therapeutic strategy, while little effort has been made to study the role of amniotic membrane transplantation (AMT). We describe the first case of OCP with minimal immunosuppressant and initial ocular surface reconstruction procedure using double layer AMT. ⋯ We aim at highlighting the possible important role of AMT in advance OCP. Further investigation is still needed for providing evidence to incorporate the procedure into treatment protocol.

Novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a kind of pulmonary inflammation induced by New Coronavirus. It seriously threatens people's health and safety. Clinical studies have found that some patients have different degrees of inflammation after discharge from hospital, especially in patients with severe inflammatory lung fibrosis. Early combination of Chinese medicine and modern medicine has important clinical significance. There are still many deficiencies in the current research. We studied the effectiveness of the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine in the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis caused by COVID-19, and proposed a network meta-analysis (NMA) scheme. ⋯ INPLASY2021110061.

The aim of this study is to compare the clinical outcomes and to identify risk factors for emergent cesarean delivery and planned cesarean delivery in patients with placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders in Vietnam. The medical records of patients admitted to our hospital with a diagnosis of PAS disorders >5 years were retrospectively reviewed. A total of 255 patients with PAS disorders were identified, including 95 cases in the emergent delivery group and 160 cases in the planned delivery group. ⋯ Planned delivery is strongly associated with a lower need for blood transfusion and better neonatal outcomes compared with emergent delivery. Antenatal vaginal bleeding and preterm labor are risk factors for emergent delivery among patients with PAS disorders. Based on the results of this study, we recommend that the management strategies for patients with PAS disorders should be individualized to determine the optimal timing of delivery and to decrease the rate of emergent cesarean delivery.

Implantable cardiac monitors (ICMs) provide long-term electrocardiographic monitoring for a number of indications. However, frequencies of use by indication and temporal changes have not been characterized on a national scale. We sought to characterize overall use and changes between 2011 and 2018. ⋯ For each of the 3 guideline concordance groups except guideline unaddressed inpatient ICM placements, there was a significant increase in use either during the Q1 2014 to Q2 2014 or the Q2 2014 through Q4 2018 periods. A significant portion of ICM placements were for indications that lack strong evidence, such as established atrial fibrillation. The incidence of ICM placement for most of the indications and settings increased after miniaturization and technical improvements.
