This study aimed to investigate the correlation between homocysteine (HCY), C-reactive protein (CRP), lipid levels, and sleep quality in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. We collected data from 217 patients (perimenopause and postmenopausal) who visited the gynecological endocrine outpatient department of our hospital between January 2017 and January 2019. The quality and patterns of sleep were measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and relationships between HCY, CRP, lipid levels, and sleep quality were analyzed according to a Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index ≥ 8. ⋯ After adjusting for age, education level, occupation, HCY, and CRP levels were all significant and independent risk factors for sleep quality in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women (all P < .05). Levels of HCY, CRP, and lipids were significantly correlated with sleep quality in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. HCY and CRP were identified as independent risk factors for sleep quality in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women, thus providing theoretical support for the clinical improvement of sleep quality.

The use of Antiretroviral therapy (ART) has become a standard of care for the treatment of HIV infection. The therapy restores immune function and reduces HIV-related adverse outcomes. However, treatment failure erodes this advantage and leads to an increased morbidity and compromised quality of life in HIV patients. ⋯ The rate of first-line ART treatment failure in the study setting was substantial. Functional status and low baseline CD4 cell count were found to be an independent predictors of virological, clinical and immunological failure. Therefore, more attention should be given for the lifestyle of pateints' on ART and maximize virological tests for monitoring treatment failures.

Linezolid for infective endocarditis: A structured approach based on a national database experience.
Current data on the frequency and efficacy of linezolid (LNZ) in infective endocarditis (IE) are based on small retrospective series. We used a national database to evaluate the effectiveness of LNZ in IE. This is a retrospective study of IE patients in the Spanish GAMES database who received LNZ. ⋯ The multivariate analysis showed an independent relationship of LNZ use with in-hospital mortality (odds ratio 9.06, 95% confidence interval 1.15--71.08, P = .03). Treatment with LNZ is relatively frequent, but most cases do not fulfill our high-impact criteria. Our data suggest that the use of LNZ as definitive treatment in IE may be associated with higher in-hospital mortality.

To investigate the clinical benefits of transcatheter arterial infusion chemotherapy compared with intravenous chemotherapy in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). From May 2013 to March 2018, 83 patients (50 men and 33 women) with surgically proven CRC were retrospectively included. Before surgery, 62 patients received conventional systemic chemotherapy, and 21 transcatheter arterial chemotherapy. ⋯ Adverse events included myelosuppression and gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abnormal liver function, and neurotoxicity, which were significantly less common in the intra-arterial group than in the intravenous group (P < .05). Postoperative complications included abdominal infection (11.29% vs 14.29%), intestinal obstruction (6.45% vs 4.76%), anastomotic bleeding (1.61% vs 0.00%), and anastomotic fistula (6.45% vs 4.76%) in the intravenous and intra-arterial groups, respectively (P > .05). Preoperative transcatheter arterial infusion chemotherapy is a safe and effective neoadjuvant chemotherapy measure for CRC with fewer adverse reactions and a higher overall DC.
