Atrial fibrillation is the main complication of patients who suffer from valvular heart disease (VHD), which may lead to an increased susceptibility to ventricular tachycardia, atrial dysfunction, heart failure, and stroke. Therefore, seeking a safe and effective therapy is crucial in prolonging the lives of patients with VHD and improving their quality of life. ⋯ Although we found high heterogeneity in the restoration of sinus rhythm at discharge, we assume that the comparison is valid at this time, given the current state in the operating room. This study provides evidence of the efficacy and security of concomitant ablation intervention for patients with VHD and atrial fibrillation. Surgical ablation would increase the safety of implantation of a permanent pacemaker in the population that underwent valve surgery.

Efficacy and safety of Shumian capsules in treating insomnia: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
It is known to all that the incidence of insomnia is becoming higher and higher with the increase of people's life stress. To some extent, it has brought about bad effects on people's life, work, study, and health, such as mental exhaustion, low work efficiency, and mood irritability. Now there are medications and non-medications methods for insomnia. As one of the treatments for insomnia, western medicine is to prolong the sleeping time and improve the anxious mood. However, taking western medicine to treat insomnia can also be accompanied by some adverse reactions at the same time, such as drug dependence, an allergic reaction, and so on. Traditional Chinese medicine therapy is based on syndrome differentiation and holistic concept. Shumian capsules (SM) are a kind of proprietary Chinese medicine for insomnia, which have the effect of relieving depression and calming the mind. But there are no studies on the efficacy and safety of SM in the treatment of insomnia. Therefore, I will provide a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SM for insomnia. ⋯ This meta-analysis provides evidence for the efficacy and safety of SM in the treatment of insomnia, and provides a new idea for the clinical treatment of insomnia. But more research is needed to support further evidence.

Non-surgical management of tubal ectopic pregnancy: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Ectopic pregnancy (EP) is a common cause of acute abdominal pain in the field of gynecology. Because the majority of women with EP are hemodynamically stable, non-surgical therapy is a viable option. The goal of this study was to determine the most effective non-surgical therapy for hemodynamically stable EP. ⋯ We highly recommend that single-dose MTX without mifepristone be used first-line in patients who require conservative therapy due to the inherent negative effects of mifepristone. An EP woman with a low -hCG level that is falling or plateauing should receive expectant treatment to reduce adverse effects.

A meta-analysis of XRCC1 single nucleotide polymorphism and susceptibility to gynecological malignancies.
Gynecological malignant tumor is a serious threat to women's health, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer are the most common. The eponymous protein encoded by the XRCC1 (X-ray repair cross complementation 1) gene is an important functional protein in the process of single-stranded DNA damage. Non-synonymous mutations of XRCC1 gene cause amino acid sequence changes that affect protein function and DNA repair ability, and may affect the interaction with other DNA repair proteins, leading to increased risk of tumor development. Many studies have assessed the association between XRCC1 gene polymorphism and the risk of cancer in the female reproductive system, but the results have been inconclusive. In this study, the relationship between XRCC1 Arg399Gln, Arg194Trp, Arg280His single nucleotide polymorphisms and susceptibility to gynecological malignancies was further explored by meta-analysis. ⋯ XRCC1 Arg399Gln, Arg194Trp, Arg280His single nucleotide polymorphisms were associated with gynecologic cancer susceptibility. Arg399Gln genotype was statistically significant in relation to cervical cancer susceptibility. Arg194Trp genotype was statistically significant in relation to endometrial cancer susceptibility.

Platelet-associated parameters in patients with psoriasis: A PRISMA-compliant systematic review and meta-analysis.
The relationship between platelet-associated parameters and psoriasis has been controversial. The purpose of our meta-analysis was to assess whether platelet count, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), mean platelet volume (MPV), and platelet distribution width (PDW) are associated with psoriasis. ⋯ Patients with psoriasis present significantly higher PLR, MPV, and PDW than healthy individuals, suggesting that psoriasis is accompanied by low-grade systemic inflammation and platelet activation.
