Comparison of prediction accuracies between mathematical models to make projections of confirmed cases during the COVID-19 pandamic by country/region.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused >0.228 billion infected cases as of September 18, 2021, implying an exponential growth for infection worldwide. Many mathematical models have been proposed to predict the future cumulative number of infected cases (CNICs). Nevertheless, none compared their prediction accuracies in models. In this work, we compared mathematical models recently published in scholarly journals and designed online dashboards that present actual information about COVID-19. ⋯ An online dashboard was demonstrated to display the association and difference in prediction accuracy among predictive models. The IRT mathematical model was recommended to make projections about the evolution of CNICs for each county/region in future applications, not just limited to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Management of corticosteroid-dependent eosinophilic interstitial nephritis: A case report.
Drug-induced acute interstitial nephritis (DI-AIN) is an important cause of acute kidney injury. In renal biopsy specimens, tubulitis with eosinophilic infiltration is suggestive of DI-AIN. Although corticosteroid therapy and discontinuation of the offending drug can improve renal dysfunction in most cases of DI-AIN, some patients experience AIN recurrence, leading to corticosteroid dependency. Corticosteroid-dependent eosinophilic interstitial nephritis presents a difficult dilemma in diagnosis and information regarding optimum management is limited. ⋯ The presence of underdetermined autoimmune processes and difficulties in discontinuing the putative offending drug discontinuation are contributing factors to corticosteroid dependency in patients with eosinophilic interstitial nephritis. MMF may be beneficial in the management of corticosteroid-dependent eosinophilic interstitial nephritis by reducing the adverse effects related to high-dose and long-term corticosteroid use.

Exacerbation of branch retinal vein occlusion post SARS-CoV2 vaccination: Case reports.
In this paper, we report on 2 patients who developed branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) exacerbation 1 day after administration of the BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. ⋯ Both cases showed a possible association between SARS-CoV-2 vaccination and the exacerbation of BRVO.

Undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of the liver with epithelioid features in an adult patient: A case report.
Undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of the liver (UESL) is a rare form of liver malignancy, with most cases reported in the pediatric population. This disease is extremely uncommon in adults. Herein, we report the first case of UESL with epithelioid features in an adult patient. ⋯ UESL is a rare form of liver cancer, with most cases reported in the pediatric population. This case study highlights an extremely uncommon case of UESL with epithelioid features and a very poor prognosis. The findings suggest that complete intraoperative resection and postoperative adjuvant therapy should be considered to improve the prognosis of adult patients with UESL with epithelioid features.

Lymphocyte-activating gene-3 (LAG-3, CD223) is the third inhibitory receptor targeted for immunotherapy. Several clinical trials investigating the use of interventions targeting LAG-3 are underway. The exact signaling mechanism downstream of LAG-3 is largely unknown, especially in breast cancer. ⋯ In addition, high expression of LAG3 was significantly associated with positivity for programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) in tumor cells, a high immunostaining score of PD-L1 in TILs, and a high total immunostaining score for PD-L1 in tumor cells and TILs (all, P < .001). High expression levels of LAG-3 mRNA were associated with high levels of TILs (P = .091). LAG-3 protein expression was not a prognostic factor in HER2-positive breast cancers, and LAG-3 expression in TILs was significantly associated with the levels of TILs in HER2-positive breast cancer, although it was not a prognostic factor.
