Prenatal diagnosis of chromosome 18 long arm deletion syndrome by high-throughput sequencing: Two case reports.
Chromosome 18 long arm deletion syndrome is a group of clinical syndromes caused by partial or total genetic material deletion of the long arm of chromosome 18 (18q), whose clinical manifestations are related to presentation and developmental abnormalities in various aspects such as intelligence, face, and movement. Prenatal diagnosis of this syndrome is challenging because of its low incidence and uncharacteristic prenatal clinical performance. In this paper, 2 cases of partial deletion of 18q found in prenatal amniotic fluid examination by high-throughput sequencing were reported and analyzed. ⋯ This report adds novel variants to the genetic profile of 18q deletion, in order to enrich the genetic data of long arm deletion of 18 chromosomes and provide better services for pre-screening, diagnosis, and genetic counseling for this disease.

Exacerbation of branch retinal vein occlusion post SARS-CoV2 vaccination: Case reports.
In this paper, we report on 2 patients who developed branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) exacerbation 1 day after administration of the BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. ⋯ Both cases showed a possible association between SARS-CoV-2 vaccination and the exacerbation of BRVO.

Case report of gastric syphilis in Korea: Clinical features, pathology, management, and prognosis.
Syphilis is a contagious infectious disease caused by Treponema pallidum. Gastric involvement of syphilis is rare and has nonspecific gastrointestinal symptoms and endoscopic findings. To date, 16 cases have been reported in Korea. Here, we report 2 additional cases of gastric syphilis in men in their 30 second. ⋯ First, gastric syphilis, despite its rarity and nonspecific symptoms and endoscopic findings, should be considered in a rare extracutaneous presentation of syphilis. Second, a high index of clinical suspicion and an accurate diagnosis based on a combination of clinical, radiological, endoscopic, serologic, and histopathologic findings provide an opportunity to identify and treat patients with gastric syphilis.

Management of corticosteroid-dependent eosinophilic interstitial nephritis: A case report.
Drug-induced acute interstitial nephritis (DI-AIN) is an important cause of acute kidney injury. In renal biopsy specimens, tubulitis with eosinophilic infiltration is suggestive of DI-AIN. Although corticosteroid therapy and discontinuation of the offending drug can improve renal dysfunction in most cases of DI-AIN, some patients experience AIN recurrence, leading to corticosteroid dependency. Corticosteroid-dependent eosinophilic interstitial nephritis presents a difficult dilemma in diagnosis and information regarding optimum management is limited. ⋯ The presence of underdetermined autoimmune processes and difficulties in discontinuing the putative offending drug discontinuation are contributing factors to corticosteroid dependency in patients with eosinophilic interstitial nephritis. MMF may be beneficial in the management of corticosteroid-dependent eosinophilic interstitial nephritis by reducing the adverse effects related to high-dose and long-term corticosteroid use.

Transoral laser microsurgery (TLM) is one of the most common operations performed for glottic lesions. Several protection measures are taken to prevent tracheal damage. However, some protection measures and common postoperative complications may still cause delayed tracheal rupture in certain situations. Cases of tracheal rupture after surgery are extremely rare, and there are no previous reports of TLM of the glottis causing tracheal rupture. ⋯ Conventional protective measures and common postoperative complications of TLM may also cause tracheal rupture.
