Hypoxia signaling plays a critical role in the development of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). We herein aimed to explore the prognostic value of hypoxia-related genes and construct the hypoxia-related prognostic signature for LUAD patients. ⋯ The Risk Score model based on the 6 crucial hypoxia-related genes could relatively reliably predict the prognosis of LUAD patients.

Re-expansion pulmonary edema (REPE) is a rare complication after chest tube insertion for the treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax. However, this complication can be life threatening when it occurs. Therefore, it is necessary to recognize REPE early and treat it appropriately. In the present study, we report a severe REPE case occurring after chest tube insertion in a patient with spontaneous pneumothorax. ⋯ REPE occurs rarely, but once it does, it causes a serious condition that can be life-threatening. Therefore, patients with the risk factors related to it should receive a closed observation after chest tube insertion. Moreover, if REPE occurs, appropriate treatments should be carried out by recognizing it early.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the most common autoimmune joint disorders globally, but its pathophysiological mechanisms have not been thoroughly investigated. Pyroptosis significantly correlates with programmed cell death. However, targeting pyroptosis has not been considered as a therapeutic strategy in RA due to a lack of systematic studies on validated biomarkers. ⋯ EGFR and JUN were found to be primarily involved in the ErbB signaling pathway, PD-1 checkpoint pathway, GnRH signaling pathway, etc. Furthermore, for immune infiltration analysis, the pyroptosis genes EGFR and JUN were closely connected with four and one immune cell types, respectively. Overall, this study presents a novel method to identify hub DEPGs and their correlation with immune infiltration, which may provide novel perspectives into the diagnosis and treatment of patients with RA.

To observe the clinical outcomes of intense pulsed light (IPL) for meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and identify its influencing factors. Forty-eight eyes of 48 patients with MGD were included. Subjects were followed up 5 times on day 1, day 15, day 30, day 45, and day 120, and underwent 3 sessions of the IPL treatment on day 1, day 15 and day 30. ⋯ IPL effectively improves clinical symptoms and some signs in MGD patients. Age, MGD severity, baseline S ɪ t and baseline OSDI are potential factors that may influence the clinical outcomes of IPL. MGD severity is an independent influencing factor.

Occupation is one of the factors contributing to the loss of sleep. Although many studies have investigated sleep loss due to irregular and nighttime shifts, the causes of sleep loss in daytime workers remain unknown. The aims of the present study were to determine whether occupation is a dependent factor for sleep duration and whether working status and lifestyle are related to sleep duration. ⋯ Analysis of covariance revealed that both male and female blue-collar tended to sleep for significantly shorter durations than those in the other occupations. The results of the current study indicate that sleep duration is affected by occupation. When determining the cause of loss of sleep, medical personnel should consider their patient's lifestyles and how they have been affected by their occupation.
