Migraine during pregnancy is common and has been reported to affect up to 10% of pregnancies. Irrespective of the type of migraine, over the counter (OTC) painkillers are used as a migraine treatment plan. Growing evidence suggests that OTC painkillers have effects on the mother, the child and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, including hypertension, eclampsia and pre-eclampsia, but inconsistent findings have been reported. The aim of this study is therefore to investigate the association between the use of migraine OTC painkillers and hypertensive disorders during pregnancy. ⋯ International prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSERO) number: CRD42021232232.

Chronic prostatitis (CP) is a common disease in the outpatient department of males and urology. Clinical studies have found that acupuncture combined with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has achieved good results in treating CP, but its efficacy and safety are not completely clear. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with TCM in the treatment of CP. ⋯ Acupuncture combined with TCM is safe and effective for alleviating CP. It can be used as an effective treatment for chronic prostatitis in the clinic.Registration number: DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/Z8FJM.

The study aimed to assess demographic, clinical, and endoscopic parameters in patients with predominant corporeal atrophic gastritis (CAG) and enterochromaffin-like cell hyperplasia suggestive for autoimmune etiology in comparison with patients presenting Helicobacter pylori atrophic gastritis limited to the gastric antrum (AAG). Demographical, clinical, and pathological data of consecutive patients who underwent an upper digestive endoscopy for bleeding screening risk, symptoms, or anemia in a single endoscopy unit were retrieved. The final study group included 63 patients with CAG and enterochromaffin-like cell hyperplasia on histology and a control group of 142 patients with AAG. ⋯ Upper digestive endoscopies with no visible mucosal lesions (P = .01) were also more frequent in the patients with CAG, but there were not differences regarding digestive symptoms between groups. The linear regression models revealed that the low hemoglobin (P < .001) and low MCV (P = .03) are the independent variables that can predict CAG on histology, but not the serum iron level (P = .77)Consecutive patients investigated on endoscopy with CAG in comparison with those having AAG are more frequent female, they have microcytic anemia, and no mucosal lesions on endoscopy. The decreased hemoglobin level and low MCV, rather than the serum iron level are predictors for CAG versus AAG on histology in endoscopic population.

The association of early diarrhea after successful resuscitation following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest with neurological outcome: A retrospective observational study.
Gastrointestinal ischemia with reperfusion tissue injury contributes to post-cardiac arrest syndrome. We hypothesized that diarrhea is a symptom of intestinal ischemia/reperfusion injury and investigated whether the occurrence of early diarrhea (≤12 hours) after successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation is associated with an unfavorable neurological outcome. We analyzed data from the Vienna Clinical Cardiac Arrest Registry. ⋯ In univariate analysis, the crude odds ratio for unfavorable neurologic outcome was 3.42 (95% confidence interval, 1.11-10.56, P = .03) for early diarrhea. After multivariate adjustment for traditional prognostication markers the odds ratio of early diarrhea was 5.90 (95% confidence interval, 1.28-27.06, P = .02). In conclusion, early diarrhea within 12 hours after successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation was associated with an unfavorable neurological outcome.

Behavioral interventions to reduce particulate matter exposure in patients with COPD.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is commonly affected by particulate matter (PM) exposure. In this study, we aimed to evaluate whether behavioral interventions to reduce PM exposure improve clinical outcomes in patients with COPD. ⋯ Given the harmful effect of air pollutants, individual-level interventions to reduce exposure may be significant. However, there is a lack of evidence on how effective such interventions are to date. This study will be able to provide physicians and patients with evidence-based strategies to reduce PM exposure in daily life.
