Pheochromocytoma (PHEO) is a rare neuroendocrine tumor arising from chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla. Most pediatric PHEOs are functional tumors, and clinical manifestations are related to catecholamine hypersecretion and/or tumor mass effects. ⋯ PHEO should be considered in the differential diagnosis of children with seizures presenting in the emergency department. A multidisciplinary approach to the evaluation and treatment of PHEO is also crucial for a successful outcome.

Arteriosclerosis has genetic correlation. Many studies have shown that angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) gene A1166C polymorphism is highly associated with arteriosclerosis, but there is no evidence-based basis. The purpose of this study is to systematically evaluate the relationship between AT1R gene A1166C polymorphism and arteriosclerosis. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/V6E2Y.

Safety and feasibility of laparoscopic gastrectomy for remnant gastric cancer compared with open gastrectomy: Single-center experience.
The usefulness, safety and oncological validity of laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) for remnant gastric cancer (RGC) have not been widely reported. A total of 38 patients who underwent gastrectomy for RGC were enrolled at Wakayama Medical University Hospital between April 2008 and December 2018. All consecutive patients were included in this retrospective study; the patients were divided into the open gastrectomy group and the laparoscopic group according to the sequential nature of their operation. ⋯ There were no differences in postoperative complications or long-term outcomes, including recurrence-free survival and overall survival. LGy is suitable in cases in which the initial surgery is performed by laparoscopic surgery. Even if the initial surgery is open surgery, it is oncologically equivalent to open gastrectomy and can be performed safely with less blood loss.

Dental pain can have a detrimental effect on quality of life. Symptomatic apical periodontitis is the most common cause of dental pain and arise from an inflamed or necrotic dental pulp. There is growing evidence to support the effectiveness of probiotics in combination with antibiotics on periodontitis. We therefor will conduct this study to evaluate the clinical therapeutic effects of probiotics in combination with antibiotics on periodontitis. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/QZ6SB (https://osf.io/qz6sb/).

Chronic respiratory dysfunction due to diaphragmatic paralysis following penetrating neck trauma: A case report.
Respiratory dysfunction resulting from unilateral diaphragmatic paralysis during neck trauma is very rare in adults. We describe the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of 1 patient with chronic respiratory insufficiency, in whom the diaphragmatic paralysis was associated with phrenic nerve injury due to penetrating neck trauma. ⋯ The possibilities of phrenic nerve palsy and diaphragmatic paralysis should not be overlooked during the evaluation of neck trauma.
