The incidence of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in Uygur population is gradually increasing recently. In view of the great diagnostic and prognostic values of cell-free DNAs (cfDNA) detection, this study focus on a liquid biopsy to explore the value of cfDNA mutation in healthy and NSCLC patients in 2 ethnicities. ⋯ There existed distinct distributions of cancer subtypes, smoking proportion, cfDNA level, and mutation patterns between Han and Uygur patients. The results may be a useful tool in NSCLC patients' diagnosis as well as individualized therapy between ethnicities in future.

The quality control of fetal sonographic (FS) images is essential for the correct biometric measurements and fetal anomaly diagnosis. However, quality control requires professional sonographers to perform and is often labor-intensive. To solve this problem, we propose an automatic image quality assessment scheme based on multitask learning to assist in FS image quality control. ⋯ The scheme has been applied to 3 types of fetal sections, which are the head, abdominal, and heart. The experimental results show that our method can make a quality assessment of an FS image within less a second. Also, our method achieves competitive performance in both the segmentation and diagnosis compared with state-of-the-art methods.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common chronic disease and increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, metabolic and neuropsychiatric disorders, resulting in a considerable socioeconomic burden. This study aimed to identify potential key genes influence the mechanisms and consequences of OSA. Gene expression profiles related to OSA were obtained from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. ⋯ Decreased expression of the hub genes was association with OSA occurrence, and exhibited good performance in distinguishing OSA from normal samples based on ROC analysis. Besides, the Pearson method revealed a strong correlation between hub genes, which indicates that they may act in synergy, contributing to OSA and related disorders. This bioinformatics research identified 4 hub genes, including GDNF, SLC2A2, PRL, and SST which may be new potential biomarkers for OSA and related disorders.

A number of studies have demonstrated that exosomes were involved in important physiological and pathological processes through cell-to-cell communication in cardiovascular disease, which contained nucleic acids, proteins, and lipid contents. In our study, we found that the protein platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM1) was an extracellular vesicle in the blood of high blood pressure patients (HBPP). Isolated the vesicles from the blood of HBPP and health examiners and detected its size and morphology with nanoparticle tracking analysis, then we identified its surface protein CD63, CD81, and the protein expression of PECAM1 in the exosome with western blot. ⋯ Our results showed that the morphology of extracellular vesicles was more evident in high blood pressure groups than healthy controls, and the protein expression of PECAM1 was also abundant in the vesicles of HBPP, however, there were no extracellular vesicles in the blood samples of healthy controls. Besides, linear regression showed the linear correlation coefficient R = 0.901, P < .01 between the expression of PECAM1 and the systolic blood pressure of the high blood patients. Therefore, the exosome of protein of PECAM1 was a potential risking star in HBPP.

Tomoscintigraphic reconstruction in nuclear medicine assumes that the distribution of the tracer is unchanged in the volume of interest throughout the duration of the acquisition. This condition is however not met in early-phase bone scintigraphy and early-phase pelvic SPECT may display helical artifacts due to the filling of the bladder. Those artifacts may hamper proper interpretation of surrounding bone areas. ⋯ The 16-8-2 protocol had the highest signal to noise ratio among those 3 protocols. The bladder artifact was visually markedly reduced on the patient acquisition with a 16-8-2 protocol. Two successive early-phase bone SPECT, with a lower number of projection than the usual protocol reduce the impact of the helical artifacts around the bladder.
