Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Clinical therapy of platelet-rich plasma vs hyaluronic acid injections in patients with knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized double-blind controlled trials.
Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is the most common degenerative disease of the joints caused by articular cartilage injury, degeneration of joint edges and hyperplasia of subchondral bone. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of clinical therapy of platelet-rich plasma vs hyaluronic acid injections in patients with KOA. ⋯ In improving knee function and quality of life, PRP showed superiority over HA in long-term follow-up from well-designed double-blind trials, but a large number of high-quality multi-center studies are still needed to provide more sufficient evidence.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Effectiveness and safety of ear acupuncture for allergic rhinitis: A protocol of randomized controlled trial.
Allergic rhinitis is a global problem. About 10% to 40% of the global population is affected by allergic rhinitis and is on the rise, which has a significant health and economic impact on society. Ear acupuncture is a non-invasive acupuncture therapy, which has been used in the treatment of allergic rhinitis, and some positive results have been reported, but there is not enough evidence to prove its efficacy and safety. ⋯ The results of this study will determine the efficacy and safety of ear acupuncture in the treatment of allergic rhinitis and provide a basis for promoting the application of ear acupuncture in the treatment of allergic rhinitis.

Drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) affects 7% to 20% of children with epilepsy. Although some risk factors for DRE have been identified, the results have not been consistent. Moreover, data regarding the risk factors for epilepsy and its seizure outcome in the first 2 years of life are limited. ⋯ The pooled prevalence of these patients with genetic factors was 22.8% (95% CI 17.4-29.3). The genetic defect plays a crucial role in the development of DRE in younger children with epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disability. The results can serve as a reference for further studies of epilepsy panel design and may also assist in the development of improved treatments and prevention strategies for DRE.

Clinicopathological characteristics of primary peritoneal epithelioid mesothelioma of clear cell type: A case report.
Primary peritoneal epithelioid mesothelioma of clear cell type is an extremely rare entity composed of clear cytoplasm. It is challenging to diagnose because of the morphological resemblance to clear cell tumor. ⋯ Primary peritoneal epithelioid mesothelioma of clear cell type needs to be differentiated from a variety of clear cell tumors. This disease is characterized by specific genetic alteration. Whole-exome sequencing contributes to guide individualized therapy. CRS-HIPEC helps achieve long-term overall survival.

Poststroke pneumonia (PSP) is a common complication of stroke and an important cause of death following stroke. However, the treatment of PSP remains inadequate due to severe impairment to the respiratory system by PSP. Thus, it is crucial to focus on preventing PSP to improve the prognosis of patients with stroke. ⋯ Our findings revealed the following risk factors for PSP: atrial fibrillation odds ratio (OR) = 2.884, 95% confidence intervals (CI) = 1.316-6.322), being bedridden (OR = 2.797, 95%CI = 1.322-5.921), subject to an invasive procedure (OR = 12.838, 95%CI = 6.296-26.178), massive cerebral infarction (OR = 3.994, 95%CI = 1.496-10.666), and dysphagia (OR = 2.441, 95%CI = 1.114-5.351). Pneumonia was a risk factor for poor prognosis (OR = 2.967, 95%CI = 1.273-6.915) and death (OR = 5.493, 95%CI = 1.825-16.53) after stroke. Hence, since pneumonia increases the risk of poor prognosis and death following acute ischemic stroke, preventing, and managing the risk factors for PSP may improve the prognosis and reduce the mortality after stroke.
