Role of serum CXCL9 and CXCL13 in predicting infection after kidney transplant: A STROBE study.
Chemokines are majorly involved in inflammatory and immune responses. The interferon-γ-inducible chemokines C-X-C motif chemokines 9 and 10 (CXCL9 and CXCL10) are considerably associated with Th1 cells and monocytes, and their expression levels rapidly increase during the early episodes of renal allograft rejection and various infectious diseases. CXCL13 is one of the most potent B-cell and T follicular helper-cell chemoattractants. ⋯ The serum levels of CXCL9 and CXCL13 before surgery and those of CCL2 and CXCL10 before and after surgery were not associated with infection within 1 year after transplant (P > .05). The combination of postoperative day (POD) 30 CXCL9 and postoperative day 30 CXCL13 provided the best results with an area under the curve of 0.721 (95% confidence interval, 0.591-0.852), with a sensitivity of 71.4% and specificity of 68.5% at the optimal cutoff value of 52.72 pg/mL. As important chemokines, CXCL9 and CXCL13 could be used to predict the occurrence of infection after kidney transplant.

Previous studies displayed that thrombomodulin gene polymorphisms are closely associated with venous thromboembolism (VTE), while the results are inconsistent. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to accurately determine the association between thrombomodulin gene polymorphism and the risk of VTE. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/UEHJP.

A recent report demonstrated that the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is 67.6% among Caucasian and Chinese patients with primary aldosteronism (PA). Moreover, the report showed a significant association between plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) and the severity of OSA in Caucasian patients. However, no studies have examined the prevalence of OSA with PA or the association of its severity with PAC in the Japanese population. ⋯ In conclusion, although the severity of OSA did not correlate with PAC and PRA, there was a high prevalence of OSA among Japanese patients with PA. Moreover, the severity of OSA was strongly affected by BMI. Thus, the examination of OSA in patients with PA and the proper management of OSA might be important for the Japanese population.

It has been well reported that non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with single epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) activating mutation have high objective response rate when treated with EGFR-TKIs. However, due to rarity of cases, the response of patients with EGFR double or multiple mutations is not yet well understood. Patient-derived organoid technology has become to a powerful tool in cancer personalized medicine. ⋯ The uncommon EGFR double mutation exhibits distinctive sensitivities towards different target drugs of EGFR-TKIs. Our findings provide a better understanding of EGFR-TKIs' effects on patient-derived cancer organoids harboring uncommon EGFR double mutation(s).

Accuracy of noninvasive continuous arterial pressure monitoring using ClearSight during one-lung ventilation.
Noninvasive continuous arterial pressure monitoring may be clinically useful in patients who require continuous blood pressure monitoring in situations where arterial catheter placement is limited. Many previous studies on the accuracy of the noninvasive continuous blood pressure monitoring method reported various results. However, there is no research on the effectiveness of noninvasive arterial pressure monitoring during one-lung ventilation. ⋯ Blood pressure and pulse rate showed a narrower limit of agreement with a percentage error value of around 30%. In addition, the tracking ability of each measurement could be determined by the concordance rate, all of which were below acceptable limits (92%). In noninvasive arterial blood pressure monitoring using ClearSight, mean blood pressure and pulse rate show acceptable agreement with the invasive method.
