Chronic hand eczema (CHE) is a recurrent, frequently disabling skin condition that requires daily skin care to prevent transepidermal water loss, posing a significant burden of society and economy. In recent years, topical 0.05% clobetasol cream is widely used for the treatment of CHE for its efficacy, tolerability and safety. Whereas, no systematic review and meta-analysis has been updated up to now. Therefore, this work aims to assess the effectiveness and safety of topical 0.05% clobetasol cream in patients with CHE. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/SPHVZ.

The h-index of a researcher refers to the maximum number h of his/her publications that has at least h citations via the concept of the square area. The x-index is determined by the maximum area of a rectangle under the curve to interpret authors' individual research achievements (IRAs). However, the properties of both metrics have not been compared and discussed before. This study aimed to investigate whether both metrics of h- and x-index are suitable for evaluating IRAs in a short period of years. ⋯ We verified that the h-index failed to differentiate authors' IRAs among author groups in a short time period. The x-index combined with the Kano map is recommended in research for a better understanding of the authors' IRAs in other journals or disciplines, not just limited to the journal of PloS One as we did in this study.

A novel intubation discomfort score to predict painful unsedated colonoscopy.
Pain during colonoscopy is a critical quality indicator and often a limiting factor for unsedated colonoscopy. This study aimed to identify factors associated with pain during colonoscopy and establish a model for predicting a painful colonoscopy. Patients aged 18 to 80 who underwent unsedated colonoscopy were prospectively enrolled in 2 tertiary endoscopic centers in China. ⋯ Abdominal compression (48.4% vs 19.9%, P < .001) and position change (59.7% vs 32.1%, P < .001) were more frequently required in the group of patients with IDS ≥1. These results were externally validated in a validation cohort. The intubation discomfort score developed in this study was useful for predicting pain during colonoscopy, with IDS ≥1 indicating painful colonoscopy.

: Evacuation disorders are common in industrialized countries, affecting an average of 15% to 20% of the healthy adult population. Probiotic therapy can reduce functional constipation and increase both the number of weekly bowel movements and quality of stools. Based on the hypothesis that a combination of more strains may provide better results for constipation and facilitate adherence to treatment, this study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of a combination of different strains of Lactobacillus sp. and Bifidobacterium sp. in functional constipation. ⋯ The probiotic products are expected to induce beneficial changes in the intestinal microbiota, thereby increasing intestinal frequency to over 3 times a week and improving stool quality. The results can guide patients and healthcare practitioners and help in decision-making in the treatment of functional constipation.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated distal symmetric peripheral neuropathy (DSPN) is one of the most frequent neurological complications of HIV infection, and causes pain and dysaesthesias in millions globally. Many individuals with this infection report using acupuncture to manage their symptoms, but evidence supporting the use of acupuncture is limited. This systematic review will assess the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for patients with HIV-associated DSPN. ⋯ CRD42020210994.
