Efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer patients with different genes mutation: A meta-analysis.
Latest clinical trials have proved the better overall survival (OS) for the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors verse chemotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. However, we still have no clear ideas of the factors which could affect the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors. Cancer, essentially, is a disease related to genes mutation. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors for NSCLC patients with different genes mutation. ⋯ Immune checkpoint inhibitors are more efficacious than chemotherapy in NSCLC patients with EGFR wild-type, KRAS mutation, and any PD-L1 tumor proportion scores.

It is unclear whether there are false positive or negative results in the effects of sodium-glucose transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors on various cardiovascular and renal outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes. We aimed to explore this issue by a meta-analysis with trial sequential analysis. ⋯ Compared with placebo, SGLT2 inhibitors conclusively reduce the risk of MACE, CVD or HHF, ACD, CVD, HHF, and KFP in patients with type 2 diabetes, whereas the effects of SGLT2 inhibitors on MI and stroke are not conclusive and need to be further assessed in future studies with the adequate sample size to reject or accept the effect size.

We sought to analyze the current situation of personnel training and scientific research regarding pharmacy intravenous admixture services (PIVAS), to provide evidence-based medical knowledge to inform personnel training for PIVAS in mainland China. A cross-sectional survey was used to examine the current status of PIVAS personnel training, research capabilities, needs, and research output of PIVAS personnel based from the perspective of leaders in PIVAS in China. The survey period was from March to April 2019. ⋯ There were no significant differences in the training of PIVAS personnel and scientific research between different provinces and hospital levels. The training content of PIVAS personnel in China was found to be relatively rich, but management tools, career development, and training in scientific research were found to be relatively weak, and the scientific research output was very low. It is necessary to build a comprehensive training system for career development among PIVAS personnel.

Propionic acidemia is associated with pathogenic variants in PCCA or PCCB gene. We investigated the potential pathogenic variants in PCCA or PCCB genes in Fujian Han population. Two probands and their families of Han ethnicity containing two generations were subject to newborn screening using tandem mass spectrometry, followed by diagnosis using urine gas chromatography mass spectrometry. ⋯ Ala461Pro) in exon 13 was a Variant of Undetermined Significance (VUS). One novel missense variant and two missense variants in PCCB gene were identified in the study. The novel variant of PCCB gene identified VUS was identified for the first time in the Chinese population, which enriched the mutational spectrum of PCCB gene.

Liberal blood transfusion strategies and associated infection in orthopedic patients: A meta-analysis.
It remains unclear whether transfusion strategies during orthopedic surgery and infection are related. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether liberal blood transfusion strategies contribute to infection risk in orthopedic patients by analyzing randomized controlled trials (RCTs). ⋯ This pooled analysis of RCTs demonstrates that liberal transfusion strategies in orthopedic patients result in a nonsignificant increase in infections compared with more restrictive strategies. The conclusions are mainly based on retrospective studies and should not be considered as recommendation before they are supported by larger scale and well-designed RCTs.
