Children evaluated in the emergency department for head trauma often undergo computed tomography (CT), with some uncooperative children requiring pharmacological sedation. Chloral hydrate (CH) is a sedative that has been widely used, but its rectal use for child sedation after head trauma has rarely been studied. The objective of this study was to document the safety and efficacy of rectal CH sedation for cranial CT in young children. ⋯ Adverse effects occurred in 11 patients (8.1%), but all recovered completely. Compared with oral CH sedation, rectal CH sedation was associated with quicker onset (P < .01), higher success rate (P < .01), and lower adverse event rate (P < .01). Rectal CH sedation can be a safe and effective method for CT imaging of young children with head trauma in the emergency department.

This study aimed to investigate the correlation between triglyceride glucose (TyG) index and coronary artery disease (CAD) with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and identify the risk associated TyG index in different subgroups. A total of 1665 eligible inpatients (CAD with T2DM group [n = 680], non-coronary artery disease without T2DM [n = 985]) were consecutively enrolled in this study. They were assigned into 4 subgroups: middle-aged, elderly, male, and female subgroups. ⋯ The specificity and the positive predictive value of the TyG index is greater than the sensitivity and the negative predictive value, respectively (all P < .05). Increased TyG index is a new independent risk factor for CAD with T2DM, and its risk is higher in the middle-aged and male subgroups than in the elderly and female subgroups, respectively. TyG index may be used as a clinical predictor of CAD with T2DM.

Surgical treatment of varicocele is still one of the most common important treatments for male infertility. Surgery regimens for varicocele (VC) is various, including high ligation, sub-inguinal, inguinal, retroperitoneal, laparoscopic, and microsurgery. The surgery regimens applied for VC patients are various in clinic, however, the significance, advantages, and disadvantages of different varicocelectomies for male infertility are still in controversial. Therefore, this network meta-analysis is mainly to assess the relative efficacy and safety of different surgery regimens for VC patients with infertility. ⋯ CRD42020162051.

Ultrasonographic characteristics of thyroid nodule rupture after microwave ablation: Three case reports.
Thyroid nodule rupture is a rare complication after microwave ablation (MWA). The ultrasonographic characteristics, clinical course, treatment, or prognosis of thyroid nodule rupture after ablation have not been systematically summarized. Three cases with thyroid nodule rupture after MWA were reported in this study, including the characteristic ultrasound images before ablation and after rupture. Meanwhile, we investigated the etiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the rupture. These findings can provide references for the future clinical practice. ⋯ Nodule rupture is a rare but severe complication after MWA of the thyroid nodules. The diagnosis can be confirmed by clinical symptoms and ultrasound examination, and most nodule ruptures could be cured with conservative treatment. Grasping the characteristics of ultrasound imaging during the course of disease, and dynamically assessing course of disease progression by ultrasonography could avoid unnecessary imaging examinations or invasive procedures.

Interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS) is a rare sarcoma that originates from interdigitating dendritic cells in lymphoid tissue, the imaging characteristics of which are poorly defined. Pathological examination can identify the tumor, but reports on the imaging characteristics of IDCS are limited. ⋯ Imaging provides a unique advantage to determine the extent of the IDCS, the invasion of adjacent tissues, and the presence or absence of distant metastases.
