Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Drug-coated balloon angioplasty versus balloon angioplasty for treating patients with in-stent restenosis in the femoropopliteal artery: A meta-analysis.
The introduction of endovascular surgery has led to frequent stent use, although in-stent restenosis (ISR) remains a challenging issue. Drug-coated balloon (DCB) and conventional balloon angioplasty (BA) are common endovascular procedures for addressing ISR in the femoropopliteal artery. However, there is controversy regarding which procedure provides the greatest benefit to patients. ⋯ Relative to BA, DCB use increases the durability of treatment for ISR in the femoropopliteal artery, based on significant reductions in binary restenosis and TLR at 6-12 months after the procedure. Furthermore, DCB use was associated with better clinical improvement. However, additional randomized controlled trials are needed to validate these findings.

Thyroid autoimmune disease (TAI) has been verified to be related to multiple adverse pregnancy outcomes. A growing number of evidences highlight the protective roles of glucocorticoid on the treatments of TAI. This meta-analysis aimed to study whether it is beneficial to add glucocorticoid treatment in infertile women with TAI when they are undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART). ⋯ Glucocorticoid may improve the pregnancy outcomes of ART women with ATA positive, but there is no significant reduction in the risk of miscarriage. Due to the limited enrolled references, glucocorticoid adjuvant therapy should be applied after more randomized controlled trials.

Acute pancreatitis is the most common complication of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). There was no conclusion on the prevention of Post-ERCP Pancreatitis (PEP) by Lactated Ringer Solution. ⋯ Aggressive hydration with Lactated Ringer Solution during perioperative period of ERCP can prevent PEP.

Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a relatively common complication of cirrhosis. However, the effect of PVT on the prognosis might not be unequivocal. A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to investigate the effect of PVT on the prognosis of patients with cirrhosis who have not received a liver transplant. ⋯ The presence of PVT might exert a slight effect on the overall prognosis of patients with cirrhosis. PVT might mainly affect the short-term prognosis by increasing hepatic decompensation events in patients with cirrhosis. However, PVT might not influence the long-term prognosis of patients with cirrhosis.

It remains unclear whether Tai Chi is effective for walking function and posture control improvements in aged populations with knee osteoarthritis. The aim of this study was to systematically evaluate the effects of Tai Chi on improving walking function and posture control in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis by updating the latest trial evidence. ⋯ This meta-analysis provided evidence from 11 RCTs that Tai Chi could be an excellent physical training strategy for improving walking function and posture control in older adults with knee osteoarthritis. Assuming that Tai Chi is at least effective and safe in most areas, it can be used as an adjuvant and reliable physical training strategy for walking function upgrading and balance control improvements for older patients with knee osteoarthritis.
