Review Case Reports
Squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue with cardiac metastasis on 18F-FDG PET/CT: A case report and literature review.
The most common malignancies metastasizing to the heart are cancers of the lung, breast, mesothelioma, melanoma, leukemia, and lymphoma. Cardiac metastasis from a tongue cancer is a rare finding and only a few cases have been reported previously in the literature. In this case report and literature review, we discuss the main clinical features of patients with cardiac metastases secondary to a tongue cancer and imaging modalities performed, especially the 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT). ⋯ In this case report, 18F-FDG PET/CT proved to be useful in detecting cardiac metastasis and changed the therapeutic management of the patient. It suggests that patients with tongue malignancies in a context of poor initial prognosis should be followed-up early by 18F-FDG PET/CT with HFLC diet to facilitate detection of recurrence.

The present study aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the relationships between ATP2B1 gene polymorphisms with blood pressure (BP) level and susceptibility to hypertension. ⋯ Our study demonstrated that ATP2B1 gene polymorphism rs2681472 and rs17249754 were associated with BP levels and the susceptibility to hypertension.

Brain atrophy has been observed in perinatally HIV-infected patients (PHIV) despite initiation on combined antiretroviral treatment (cART), but neuroimaging studies are limited. We aimed to evaluate cortical thickness (CT) and subcortical gray matter (GM) volumes of PHIV youths with stable immunovirological situation and with a normal daily performance. A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted. ⋯ Moreover, increased age at cART initiation and lower nadir CD4 count was associated with larger volumes in left accumbens (B = 0.0000046, P = .033; B = -0.00000008, P = .045, respectively). PHIV patients showed thinner cortices of areas in temporal, orbito-frontal and occipital lobes and lower volumes of subcortical GM volumes when compared with the HIV- control group, suggesting cortical and subcortical brain alterations in otherwise neuroasymptomatic patients. Nevertheless, larger and longitudinal studies are required to determine the impact of HIV on brain structure in PHIV patients and to further identify risk and protective factors that could be implicated.

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has become one of the effective methods for the treatment of coronary heart disease (CHD). However, it is easy to have in-stent restenosis (ISR), even cardiovascular events after PCI, which affects the therapeutic effects. The incidence of ISR in diabetes mellitus (DM) patients increased by 2 to 4 times. Early identification of the risk factors of ISR in DM patients after PCI may help clinical staff to prevent and intervene as soon as possible, so it is very important to improve the clinical outcomes of DM patients. Although scholars at home and abroad have studied and summarized the risk factors of ISR in DM patients after PCI, the conclusions are different. Therefore, in this study, meta-analysis was used to summarize the risk factors of ISR in DM patients after PCI, and to explore the characteristics of high-risk groups of ISR, thus providing reference for early identification and prevention of ISR. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/WC87Y.

Fasting and caloric restriction have a potential means of anti-inflammatory, as they can decrease the level of systemic inflammation. Although encouraging results have been obtained in animal experiments, there is no consensus on whether these results are applicable to human. The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to analyze the influence of fasting and caloric restriction on inflammation levels in humans. ⋯ INPLASY202130026.
