The effect of insulin pump combined with ulinastatin on the levels of PCT, TG, PTX-3, and CX3CL1 in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis and pancreatitis.
The aim of this research is to observe the effect of insulin pump combined with Ulinastatin on the levels of procalcitonin (PCT), triglycerides (TG), pentraxin-3(PTX-3), and C-X3-C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1) in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis and pancreatitis. A total of 72 patients with diabetic ketoacidosis and pancreatitis who were admitted to our hospital from February 2016 to February 2020 were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into study groups (36 cases, given insulin pump combined Ulinastatin treatment) and control group (36 cases, given insulin pump treatment). ⋯ After treatment, the total adverse reaction rate of the 2 groups was not significantly different (P > .05), but the total adverse reaction rate of the study group was lower than that of the control group. The combination of insulin pump and ulinastatin in the treatment of patients with diabetic ketoacidosis complicated with acute pancreatitis has a effect, which can shorten the recovery time of clinical symptoms, reduce the levels of PCT, TG, PTX-3, and CX3CL1, and has fewer adverse reactions. It is worthy of clinical application.

Excision repair cross complementing 1 (ERCC1), ribonucleotide reductase M1 (RRM1), β-tubulin III (TUBB3), thymidylate synthetase (TYMS), and topoisomerase IIα (TOP2A) genes have been shown to be associated with the pathogenesis and prognosis of various types of carcinomas; however, their roles in breast cancer have not been fully validated. In this study, we evaluated the correlations among these biomarkers and the associations between their expression intensity and the clinicopathological characteristics to investigate whether the above genes are underlying biomarkers for patients with breast cancer. Ninety-seven tissue specimens collected from breast cancer patients. ⋯ The expression intensity of TOP2A positively associated with that of TYMS. Hierarchical clustering analysis and difference test indicated that breast cancer with higher levels of TUBB3, TYMS, and TOP2A, as well as lower levels of ERCC1 and RRM1 tended to have higher histological grade and Ki-67 index. Our studies showed that ERCC1, TYMS, TUBB3, and TOP2A may be potential biomarkers for prognosis and individualized chemotherapy guidance, while there may be interactions between ERCC1 and RRM1, or TUBB3, or TYMS, as well as between TOP2A and TYMS in pathogenesis and development of breast cancer.

A panel of eight mRNA signatures improves prognosis prediction of osteosarcoma patients.
Genetic alterations are vital to the progression of osteosarcoma carcinoma. The present study investigated a panel of gene signatures that could evaluate prognosis in osteosarcoma based on data from the Therapeutically Applicable Research To Generate Effective Treatments initiative. Osteosarcoma messenger RNA (mRNA) profiles and clinical data were downloaded from the therapeutically applicable research to generate effective treatments database. ⋯ Further, the biological processes and signaling pathways of the eight-mRNA signature were reviewed using Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes resources. Finally, the results of the TCGA analysis were verified by other cohorts from Gene Expression Omnibus database. The identification of an eight-mRNA signature not only provides a prognostic biomarker of osteosarcoma but also offers the potential of novel therapeutic targets for its treatment.

Del-1 has been linked to the pathogenesis of various cancers, including breast cancer. However, the regulation of Del-1 expression remains unclear. We previously reported the interaction between microRNA-137 (miR-137) and the Del-1 gene. ⋯ In in silico and in vitro analyses, we showed that Del-1 is a target of miR-496 in TNBC and thereby affects cancer progression. Our findings suggest that miR-496 and miR-137 additively target Del-1 and act as modulating factors in TNBC. They are potentially new biomarkers for patients with TNBC.

Low central blood pressure and sympathetic activity predispose for the development of intradialytic hypotension.
Intradialytic hypotension (IDH) may lead to a poor life quality and was associated with cardiovascular mortality in patients under hemodialysis. This study investigated the autonomic nerve and cardiovascular function in the IDH episodes. In this case-control study, 70 end stage renal disease patients (198 visits) were recruited. ⋯ Furthermore, lower sympathetic activity (odds ratio [OR] 0.55; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.35-0.87), lower pulse pressure (OR 0.95; 95% CI 0.92-0.98), and higher augmentation index (OR 17.36; 95% CI 1.48-204.10) were the possible predisposing factors for IDH-f. On the contrary, lower mean arterial pressure (OR 0.87; 95% CI 0.78-0.98) was identified as the possible factor for IDH-n. It was suggested that the lower central pulse pressure and sympathetic activity might be involved in the development of IDH.
