Lumbar spine surgery is associated with moderate-to-severe postoperative pain. Adequate pain management during the postoperative period facilitates rehabilitation. Recently, preemptive analgesia has been considered among the important analgesic methods for reducing postoperative pain. However, its efficacy in postoperative pain relief after lumbar spine surgery remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of preemptive analgesia on lumbar spine surgery. ⋯ Our findings indicate that preemptive analgesia is safe and effective for lumbar spine surgery.

Systematically review the current published literature on the impact of exercise training (ET) in chronic heart failure (CHF) patients who were conducted cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). ⋯ During the short term (up to 6 months), non-HIT could improve exercise capacity, cardiac function, and HRQoL in CHF patients with CRT. However, due to the small number of participants, a high-quality large-sample multicenter trial is demanded.

High L1CAM expression predicts poor prognosis of patients with endometrial cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Previous studies have reported that the levels of L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM) indicate poor prognosis of patients with various solid tumors. However, the prognostic significance of L1CAM in endometrial cancer has remained controversial. Herein, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the prognostic value of L1CAM in endometrial cancer. ⋯ This systematic review demonstrated that high L1CAM expression is correlated with poor survival outcomes and adverse clinicopathological parameters in patients with endometrial cancer.

Yu ping feng san for pediatric allergic rhinitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
The potential treatment effects and safety of Yu ping feng san (YPFS) for pediatric allergic rhinitis (PAR) patients have yet to be studied systematically. ⋯ Current evidence cannot support the routine use of YPFS for treatment of PAR. This may be due to poor-quality study-design limitations of the included YPFS studies. Our data showed that the use of YPFS for PAR is relatively safe compared to Western medical therapy, but a conclusion could not be drawn because only 5 studies were analyzed. Every study suffered from some methodological limitation. Therefore, further large, rigorously-designed studies are necessary to determine conclusively the utility of YPFS in PAR.

The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical efficacy of zoledronic acid (ZOL) in the treatment and prevention of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF) after percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) for elderly patients. ⋯ Zoledronic acid had a significant effect on the treatment and prevention of OVCF in elderly osteoporotic patients after PKP. Due to the limited quality and data, more high-quality studies are needed to confirm the results of this meta-analysis.
