Autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) astrocytopathy is an increasingly recognized type of steroid-responsive autoimmune disease of the nervous system. Defined in 2016, it is associated with the presence of anti-GFAP immunoglobulinG in the serum or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of affected patients. ⋯ In conclusion, the provision of an accurate early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are crucial for improving the prognosis of patients with autoimmune GFAP astrocytopathy. Further, this case highlights the importance of recognizing the role of peripheral nerve involvement in GFAP autoimmunity.

To develop a noninvasive model to predict significant fibrosis in children with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). A total of 116 CHB pediatric patients who underwent liver biopsy were included in the study. Liver histology, which is the gold standard for assessing fibrosis, was performed. ⋯ The AUROC of the G index (0.733) was higher than that of aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI) (0.680) and Fibrosis index based on 4 factors (FIB-4) (0.601) in predicting significant fibrosis in children with CHB. If the values of the G index were outside the range of 0.28 to 1.16, 52% of children with CHB could avoid liver biopsy, with an overall accuracy of 75%. The G index can predict and exclude significant fibrosis in children with CHB, and it may reduce the need for liver biopsy in children with CHB.

Safety and efficacy of S1 monotherapy or combined with nab-paclitaxel in advanced elderly pancreatic cancer patients: A meta-analysis.
To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and safety of S1 monotherapy or combination with nab-paclitaxel for the treatment of elderly patients with metastatic or locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma. ⋯ Nab-paclitaxel plus S1 was more efficient in terms of ORR and DCR than S1 monotherapy in elderly pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma patients while the side effect was controllable with a higher probability of leukopenia. Thus, combined nab-paclitaxel and S1 could be safely used in elderly patients.

Recent studies have shown that some inflammatory markers are associated with the prognosis of solid tumors. This study aims to evaluate the prognosis of glioma patients with or without adjuvant treatment using the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR). All patients who were diagnosed with gliomas at the first and second affiliated hospital of Guangxi Medical University between 2011 and 2020 were included in this study. ⋯ PLR after adjuvant treatments (post-PLR) was significantly higher than pre-PLR (P = .035). Multivariate analyses revealed that pre-SII, pre-NLR were independent prognostic factors for OS (pre-SII: HR 1.002, 95% CI: 1.000-1.005, P = .030 and pre-PLR: HR 0.983, 95% CI: 0.973-0.994, P = .001), while pre-PLR was an independent factor for PFS (HR 0.989, 95% CI: 0.979-1.000, P = .041). High pre-SII or high pre-NLR could be prognostic markers to identify glioma patients who had a poor prognosis.

Comparative Study Observational Study
The clinical effects of sodium hyaluronate, polyethylene glycol, and dextran-70 eye drops in relieving dry eye after phacoemulsification.
To compare the clinical efficacy of sodium hyaluronate eye drops, polyethylene glycol eye drops, and compound dextran eye drops in the treatment of dry eye after phacoemulsification of cataract. A total of 99 patients with dry eye after cataract phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation were treated in our hospital. Patients were divided into group A (sodium hyaluronate eye drops), group B (polyethylene glycol eye drops), and group C (dextran-70 eye drops). ⋯ In addition, there were no significant differences in tear breakdown time, corneal staining score, Schirmer I test, and dry eye symptom score between group A and group B (P > .05). At 3 days to 60 days after operation, the incidence of dry eye in group A (12.12%) and group B (18.18%) was lower than that in group C (39.39%), and the incidence of dry eye in group A was significantly lower than that in group B (P < .05). The effect of sodium hyaluronate eye drops elicited a greater beneficial impact as compared to polyethylene glycol eye drops and dextran-70 eye drops.
