Shear wave elastography (SWE) is a new ultrasonic elastography technique for evaluating the hardness of living tissue by measuring the propagation velocity of shear wave in tissue, which is characterized by real-time, non-invasive and quantitative. The SWE technique can be used to diagnose the lesions of different tissues and organs, and the quantitative measurement of SWE is considered as more objective information about breast masses. Superb microvascular imaging (SMI) is a new noninvasive Doppler ultrasound imaging method, which can display blood flow information with high spatial resolution and high frame rate, while keeping the minimum low-speed blood flow components. Therefore, SMI can diagnose diseases closely related to angiogenesis at a relatively early stage. However, the results of these studies have been contradictory. The present meta-analysis aimed at determining the accuracy of SWE combined with SMI in the differential diagnosis between benign and malignant breast lesions. ⋯ INPLASY202150075.

The clinical effects of sodium hyaluronate, polyethylene glycol, and dextran-70 eye drops in relieving dry eye after phacoemulsification.
To compare the clinical efficacy of sodium hyaluronate eye drops, polyethylene glycol eye drops, and compound dextran eye drops in the treatment of dry eye after phacoemulsification of cataract. A total of 99 patients with dry eye after cataract phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation were treated in our hospital. Patients were divided into group A (sodium hyaluronate eye drops), group B (polyethylene glycol eye drops), and group C (dextran-70 eye drops). ⋯ In addition, there were no significant differences in tear breakdown time, corneal staining score, Schirmer I test, and dry eye symptom score between group A and group B (P > .05). At 3 days to 60 days after operation, the incidence of dry eye in group A (12.12%) and group B (18.18%) was lower than that in group C (39.39%), and the incidence of dry eye in group A was significantly lower than that in group B (P < .05). The effect of sodium hyaluronate eye drops elicited a greater beneficial impact as compared to polyethylene glycol eye drops and dextran-70 eye drops.

The acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is a devastating disease and remains the leading cause of death and disability. This study aims to evaluate the role of hematological inflammatory markers (neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio [NLR], platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio [PLR], and systemic immune inflammation index [SII]) in predicting the neurological recovery in acute cerebrovascular events over 1-year follow-up. Adult patients diagnosed with AIS within 3 hours from January 2016 to December 2018 were recruited retrospectively. ⋯ The overall neurological recovery rates of 48.7%, 53.7%, 59.2%, and 55.9% were observed at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months follow-up, respectively. The multivariate analysis revealed that the baseline NLR value was a significant predictor of neurological recovery at 3 months after a stroke (adjusted odds ratio = 0.89, 95% confidence interval = 0.80-0.99, P = .035). A low NLR at ED admission could be useful marker for predicting neurological recovery at 3 months after stroke.

To investigate the relationship between the changes in circulating CD45RO+T lymphocyte subsets following neoadjuvant therapy for rectal cancer in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. The clinicopathological data of 185 patients with rectal cancer who received neoadjuvant therapy in the General Surgery Department of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University from June 2015 to June 2017 were analyzed. Venous blood samples were collected 1 week before neoadjuvant therapy and 1 week before surgery, and the expression of CD45RO+T was detected by flow cytometry. ⋯ The multivariate Cox analysis revealed that elevated CD45RO+ratio was an independent factor for better DFS (OR, 0.339; 95% CI, 0.153-0.752; P = .008) and OS (OR, 0.244; 95% CI,0.082-0.726; P = .011). Circulating CD45RO+ratio could predict the tumor regression grade of neoadjuvant therapy for rectal cancer, as well as long-term prognosis. These findings could be used to stratify patients and develop alternative strategies for adjuvant therapy.

Reflux esophagitis (RE) is a subset of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) with endoscopic evidence of esophageal inflammation, which has been linked to an increased incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF). However, data on the effect of RE on patient outcomes is limited. We sought to examine the potential association of RE with outcomes of patients with AF in a nationwide study. ⋯ There was a greater prevalence of concomitant dyslipidemia, chronic liver disease and chronic pulmonary disease (P < .01) when compared to the AF without RE cohort. Patients with AF and RE also had higher incidence of acute strokes and TIAs (P < .05), longer LOS (P < .001), and higher hospital charges (P < .05) with no difference in acute heart failure (P = .08), hospital mortality (P = .12), or CHA2DS2-VASc score (P = .67). In hospitalized patients with AF, RE was associated with a higher rate of acute stroke and TIAs, longer LOS, and greater hospital charges.
