Atorvastatin treatment has been suggested as a therapeutic method for women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in many clinical studies. Nonetheless, the effects of atorvastatin on insulin resistance in PCOS patients still remain controversial. ⋯ Atorvastatin therapy can reduce insulin resistance in the treatment of patients with PCOS. In addition, further large-sample, multi-center RCTs are needed to identify these findings.

Caveolin-1 (CAV1) is an essential structural component of caveolae, regulates cellular processes through complex cellular signaling pathways, and influences tumorigenicity. However, the role of the CAV1 (rs7804372) polymorphism in digestive cancers remains inconclusive. The meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the effect of CAV1 polymorphism on digestive cancer susceptibility and to provide a basis for precise treatment. ⋯ Our results indicate that the CAV1 (rs7804372) polymorphism may modify the occurrence of digestive cancers, and the presence of T allele or TT genotype of the CAV1 (rs7804372) may increase the risk of digestive cancers.

Current studies suggest that vitamin D deficiency during pregnancy can produce a certain effect for preterm birth (PTB), but there is no research showing whether vitamin D deficiency has a consistent effect in different pregnancies; thus, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 24 observational studies, grouping them according to the gestational age at the time of serum sampling, to investigate whether vitamin D deficiency in different periods of gestation has different effects on PTB and to provide an evidence-based basis for pregnant women to measure and supplement vitamin D. ⋯ Vitamin D deficiency in early and late pregnancy may not be associated with PTB, while vitamin D deficiency in middle pregnancy is likely to have an important effect on PTB. Vitamin D levels should be measured in the second trimester of pregnancy, and vitamin D supplements should be provided if necessary.

Fusion proteins of biologic agents in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA): A network meta-analysis.
To evaluate the efficacy of fusion proteins biologics (Etanercept (ETN), Anakinra (ANA), and Abatacept) combinations in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) using network meta-analysis to rank those according to their performance medicines. The performance of these processes is ranked according to the results of the analysis and an explanatory study of the possible results is carried out. ⋯ 1. The combination of ETN and MTX had the highest probability of optimal treatment compared to other drugs and 2. ENT, ENT + MTX, and ANA were effective in the treatment of RA compared to placebo.

Proton pump inhibitors are frequently used to prevent gastrointestinal bleeding in critically ill patients. But there is little information in the instructions about the usages for children. It is important to monitor the appropriate use of proton pump inhibitors, especially in pediatrics. ⋯ By analyzing scores, all coefficients met the standard, indicating the indicators were scientific and credible. Through a two-round Delphi survey, 3 first-rank indicators and ten second-rank indicators were developed, which will help drug administrative departments to promote the rational use of PPIs for children in PICUs. What is more, our study can constitute a methodological reference for the development of other indicator systems.
