Case Reports
A case report of prenatal diagnosis of fetal alloimmune thrombocytopenia: A CARE-compliant article.
Fetal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (FAIT) is a serious life-threatening disease caused by platelet-antigen incompatibility between the mother and fetus. FAIT can lead to fetal thrombocytopenia, intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), fetal death and severe neurological disorders after birth. Noninvasive prenatal diagnosis technology has not been widely used in China, and thus few cases of FAIT can be diagnosed prenatally. In this study, we report a case of prenatal diagnosis and treatment of FAIT. ⋯ For FAIT, the fetal umbilical cord puncture can be carried out by skilled fetal medical teams. Dexamethasone acetate tablets can be an alternative choice for patients from underdeveloped areas.

Mycobacterium avium complex peritonitis in a pediatric patient on peritoneal dialysis: A case report.
Peritonitis due to Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) is a rare but life-threatening complication in patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD). However, optimal therapeutic regimen, treatment duration, and appropriate timing of kidney transplantation (KT) after treatment are unknown. ⋯ To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of a patient who successfully underwent KT after receiving treatment for MAC peritonitis. One-year anti-mycobacterial therapy, PD catheter removal, 8-month observation after the cessation of therapy led the successful KT, although further investigation is warranted to confirm the efficacy of this approach.

To investigate the relationship between the expression of CC and CXC chemokines and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A total of 62 children with ASD (ASD group) and 60 gender- and age-matched normal children (control group) admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to January 2020 were included in the study. Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), macrophage inflammatory protein-1α (MIP-1α), macrophage inflammatory protein-1β (MIP-1β), regulated upon activation, normal T-cell expressed and secreted (RANTES), interleukin-8 (IL-8), monokine induced by interferon (IFN)-γ (MIG), and purified human interferon-γ-induced protein-10 (IP-10) were detected in the ASD group. ⋯ However, no significant correlation was found between RANTES and the ADOS-2 Module 1 scores (P > .05). The levels of CC chemokines (MCP-1, MIP-1α, MIP-1β, and RANTES) and CXC chemokines (IL-8, IP-10, and MIG) are positively correlated with the pathogenesis of ASD. Inflammation is an important contributing factor to ASD.

The use of cisplatin in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is risky and depends on a number of factors. The optimal procedure in stage I of a non seminomatous germ cell tumor without proven lymphangioinvasion after orchiectomy is controversial and is the subject of a number of discussions due to the lack of randomized studies assessing individual treatment options. The adjuvant method of choice is surveillance or application of cisplatin-based chemotherapy with the risk of treatment related nephrotoxicity. Information about cisplatin safety in renal transplant patients is particularly limited. The aim of this paper is to share the experience with the application of adjuvant chemotherapy Bleomycin, Etoposide, Cisplatin (BEP) in high-risk patient with nonseminoma after kidney transplantation. ⋯ Application of cisplatin-based chemotherapy is safe and effective in patients with CKD and in patients with a kidney transplant.

Which radiograph is most accurate for assessing hip joint penetration in infra-acetabular screw placement?
Although infra-acetabular screws have been used for anterior and posterior column transfixation, a screw penetrating the hip joint can result in harmful complications. However, the most accurate intraoperative radiologic imaging tool for identifying articular penetration has not been established. The purpose of the present study was, therefore, to evaluate the consistency with which standard pelvic radiographs compared with computed tomography (CT) can be used for demonstrating articular penetration. ⋯ The PABAK for the agreement between pelvic radiographs and CT scans was 0.85 in the outlet view and 0.75 in the AP view. The outlet view is an accurate method for detecting articular penetration of infra-acetabular screws. We recommend the insertion of an infra-acetabular screw under fluoroscopic outlet view to avoid articular penetration intraoperatively.
