Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common malignant tumor of the hematopoietic system, which seriously threatens the lives of patients. Most AML patients have acute onset, severe condition, and poor prognosis. The present study aimed to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness and safety of chemotherapy combined with different doses of interleukin-2 (IL-2) maintenance treatments in AML by Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA). ⋯ Since the study is based on published or registered RCTs, ethical approval and patient informed consent are abandoned.

Waon therapy (WT) has been used as a thermal therapy in chronic heart failure patients. However, its effect in patients with hypertension is unclear. This study aimed to reveal the hypotensive effect of WT in patients with hypertension. ⋯ The blood pressure decrease following repeated WT was not significant when all participants were considered (systolic blood pressure: 122.3 ± 15.2 to 116.9 ± 19.6 mm Hg; diastolic blood pressure: 73.8 ± 16.7 to 68.2 ± 13.2 mm Hg); however, it was significant in the non-smoking group (systolic blood pressure: 124.2 ± 11.3 to 108.8 ± 13.4 mm Hg, P < .001; diastolic blood pressure: 73.6 ± 4.9 to 62.1 ± 7.6 mm Hg, P < .001). Repeated WT (at least 5 sessions) decreased blood pressure in patients with hypertension, especially in non-smokers. WT is a simple method to reduce blood pressure in non-smoking patients with hypertension.

Various osteotomy methods have been proposed in the treatment of cubitus varus. We designed an improved stepped osteotomy to achieve improved deformity correction. We refer to this new approach as double-closed wedge broken-line osteotomy and report a series of clinical and imaging results (deformity correction, range of motion [ROM], function, osteotomy healing, and complications) of patients with cubitus varus treated with this technique. ⋯ Our double-closed wedge broken-line osteotomy has a larger cancellous bone contact surface. The deformity correction is satisfactory, the osteotomy healing is reliable, and the incidence of complications is low. Level of Evidence: Level IV.

In view of the renewed interest in psychedelics in psychiatry it is timely to analyze psychedelic treatment in historical cohorts. Recently the therapeutic efficacy of psychedelics has been linked to the so-called phenomenon of "connectedness." The aim of the present study was to explore whether long-lasting personality changes were observed in any of the 151 Danish psychiatric patients who were treated with Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) from 1960 to 1974. The exploration included a reanalysis of a subgroup as well from a 1964 Danish historical cohort. ⋯ In the present analysis of the 1964 cohort, the same percentage of patients improved with LSD treatment as in the historical analysis. In the latter, however, little attention was given to side effects, such as suicide attempts, suicides, and one homicide. Future psychedelic research with psychiatric patients should respect the potential toxicity of LSD and other psychedelics and meticulously monitor possible side effects.

Despite lacking aphasia seen with left hemisphere (LH) infarcts involving the middle cerebral artery territory, right hemisphere (RH) strokes can result in significant difficulties in affective prosody. These impairments may be more difficult to identify but lead to significant communication problems. We determine if evaluation of singing can accurately identify stroke patients with cortical RH infarcts at risk for prosodic impairment who may benefit from rehabilitation. ⋯ They also made more errors on tasks of prosody comprehension (28.6 vs 16.0, P < 0.001) and production (40.4 vs 18.4, P < 0.001). Patients with RH cortical infarcts are more likely to exhibit impaired prosody comprehension and production and demonstrate the poor variation of tone when singing compared to patients with subcortical infarcts. A simple singing screen is able to successfully identify patients with cortical lesions and potential prosodic deficits.
