Observational Study
Calculus-related functional protein expression in ureteral calculus-adhered polyp: A preliminary study.
To explore the expressions of calculus-related functional proteins in the ureteral calculus-adhered polyp tissues and investigate the role of these proteins in the formation of adhesions between the calculus and polyp. Patients with ureteral calculi and polyps who underwent ureteroscopic lithotripsy for the excision of polyps between January 2019 and June 2019 were enrolled. Polyps obtained from each patient were divided into 2 groups using a matched pairs design: observation group (polyps adhered to calculus) and control group (polyps not adhered to calculus). ⋯ There was a strong correlation between the increased expressions of annexin A1 and S100A9 in the observation group (R = 0.741, P = .022). We documented increased expressions of annexin A1 and S100A9 in the ureteral calculus-adhered polyp tissues. Annexin A1 and S100A9 may play an essential role in the adhesion of calculus and polyp and the growth of calculi.

Evaluating students' professional training satisfaction with operative dentistry teaching and curriculum can help identify their educational needs and improve the quality of the education imparted. This study aimed to assess the professional training satisfaction of senior undergraduate dental students in Saudi Arabia from the operative dentistry course teaching and its curriculum at different levels and among genders. A total of 193 (109 male, 56.48%; and 84 female, 43.52%) students participated in the survey. ⋯ This helps to prepare students for their professional life as healthcare providers. The role of teaching skills related to amalgam must be re-evaluated. It is recommended to include student representation and participation in course development committees, as they are the final recipients of the educational process.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common liver cancer. The efficacy of the present treatment is disappointing, and the prognosis is poor. Donafenib, a novel multikinase inhibitor, is a new deuterated derivative of sorafenib. It can improve overall survival in patients with advanced HCC, with a favorable safety and tolerability profile over sorafenib. ⋯ Donafenib showed good efficacy for the treatment of advanced HCC, with mild side effects. Deuterium-containing drugs seem to be a promising avenue for medical innovation.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by multiple organ damage and the production of a variety of autoantibodies. The pathogenesis of SLE has not been fully defined, and it is difficult to treat. Our study aimed to identify candidate genes that may be used as biomarkers for the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of SLE. ⋯ Bioinformatic analysis is an effective tool for screening the original genomic data in the GEO database, and a large number of SLE-related DEGs were identified. The identified hub DEGs may be potential biomarkers of SLE.
