Degloving foot injuries are challenging to treat and associated with life-long sequelae for patients. An appropriate debridement of ischemic soft tissues with maximal preservation of glabrous skin is key during the reconstruction of these injuries. Indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence angiography is an established technique for the intraoperative evaluation of tissue perfusion. ⋯ ICG fluorescence angiography is a safe, user-friendly, and quick procedure with minimal risks, expanding the armamentarium of the reconstructive surgeon. It is highly useful for the debridement of extensive plantar degloving injuries and may also help to minimize the number of procedures and the risk of infection.

Serum IL-6 and procalcitonin are two promising novel biomarkers for evaluating the severity of COVID-19 patients.
To evaluate the development of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the roles of interleukin 6 (IL-6) and procalcitonin (PCT) were assessed to diagnose severe COVID-19. Between January and February 2020, 100 consecutive patients with confirmed COVID-19 were included and divided into common (n = 56), severe (n = 28), and critical (n = 16) groups. ⋯ Further analysis showed that patients in the critical group had the highest levels of IL-6 and PCT, and those in the common group had the lowest levels (all P < .05). IL-6 and PCT are associated with the severity of COVID-19, and thus have potential value in the diagnosis of COVID-19.

Immune thrombocytopenia associated with Hashimoto thyroiditis in a pediatric patient: A case report.
Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is one of the most commonly acquired bleeding diseases in children. Infection and autoimmune disorders are the most common causes of ITP. The pathogenic mechanism of ITP is complex and is not completely understood. Understanding the underlying causes or disorders of ITP will improve the prognosis and make therapy more targeted. ⋯ Early identification of the underlying reasons and treatment with multiple modalities may be useful in improving the prognosis of ITP. The treatment of thyroid disease and restoration of the euthyroid state impact the clinical outcome of ITP in children.

Gynecomastia is a common benign breast disorder in men. Surgical management of gynecomastia includes that of a subcutaneous mastectomy with or without concurrent liposuction. Herein, the authors presented a case of complicated gynecomastia (gynecomastia with concurrent foreign body injection) which was successfully managed with an innovative technique that offered acceptable operative time, minimal complications, good recovery and satisfactory aesthetic outcome. ⋯ Single-port 3-dimensional videoscope-assisted endoscopic subcutaneous mastectomy with concurrent liposuction is a promising and safe surgical option for patient with complicated gynecomastia and severe fibrosis.

Estimation of renal function by three CKD-EPI equations in Chinese HIV/AIDS patients: A STROBE-compliant article.
Assessing renal function accurately is important for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients. Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) recommended three equations to calculate estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). There is evidence that eGFR based on the combination of serum creatinine and cystatin C is the most accurate of the three equations. ⋯ Overall mean eGFR based on serum creatinine, cystatin C and the combination of the 2 markers was 112.6(±19.0) mL/min/1.73 m2, 92.0(±24.2)mL/min/1.73 m2, and 101.7(±21.8)mL/min/1.73 m2, respectively (P = .000). The eGFR calculated by serum creatinine alone is higher than eGFR calculated by combination of serum creatinine and cystatin C, and eGFR calculated by cystatin C individual is lower than eGFR calculated by combination of the 2 markers. Of the 3 CKD-EPI equations, the CKD-EPIscr-cys equation may have the most accuracy in evaluating renal function in Chinese HIV/AIDS patients while the CKD-EPIscr equation may overestimate renal function and the CKD-EPIcys equation may underestimate renal function.
