Correlation of microRNA-367 in the clinicopathologic features and prognosis of breast cancer patients.
Breast cancer (BC) is a malignant tumor originating from cells of the breast. Notably, microRNAs have been recognized as biomarkers of BC metastasis. The present study is designed to evaluate the association between microRNA (miR)-367 expression and BC with the variance of clinicopathologic features and prognosis. ⋯ In addition, compared with the control group, poorly expressed miR-367 BC group had short period of disease-free survival and overall survival (all P < .001). Our study demonstrated that miR-367 expression is associated with BC clinicopathologic features and prognosis. This investigation may offer new insight for BC treatment.

Percutaneous vertebroplasty (VP) and kyphoplasty (KP) are well-established minimally invasive surgical procedures for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF). However, some drawbacks have been reported regarding these procedures, including height loss, cement leakage, and loss of the restored height after balloon deflation. We performed a novel VP technique to minimize these limitations of conventional procedures. ⋯ A substantially larger amount of cement was injected, with a lower leakage rate in group 2 than in group 1. A novel VP technique using a larger-diameter needle showed superior radiological and clinical outcomes than conventional VP. Therefore, it can be considered a useful treatment option for OVCF.

EFNA1 is a key gene that is associated with the pathogenesis of several human cancers. However, the prognostic role of EFNA1 in many cancers and the relationship between EFNA1 and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in different cancers remain unclear. The expression levels of EFNA1 in 33 types of cancer in the TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas) database were collected via the UCSC Xena browser. ⋯ Moreover, EFNA1 expression was positively correlated with the levels of infiltrating CD4+ T cells, myeloid dendritic cells and neutrophils in LGG. GSEA suggested that several GO and kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) items associated with nervous system function and apoptotic pathway were significantly enriched in the EFNA1-low and EFNA1-high expression phenotypes. EFNA1 may play a pivotal role in the development of LGG and may serve as a potential marker for LGG prognosis and therapy.

The risk of colorectal neoplasm in ex- and never-smokers according to urinary cotinine level.
To investigate the relationship between urinary cotinine and colorectal neoplasm (CRN). The participants in the health screening cohort of the National Cancer Center who underwent screening colonoscopy between June 2007 and December 2009 were included. A total of 8121 subjects who underwent urinary cotinine measurement within 14 days from the index colonoscopy were included. ⋯ The cumulative incidence of CRN and ACRN was higher in the cotinine-positive never- and ex-smokers than in the cotinine-negative never- and ex-smokers (P < .001 and P = .008, respectively). CRN or ACRN is more likely to occur at follow-up colonoscopy in the urinary cotinine-positive never- and ex-smokers than in the urinary cotinine-negative group. Therefore, urinary cotinine measurements may provide useful information on never- or ex-smokers undergoing screening colonoscopy.

Psychological effects of traditional Chinese mind-body exercises for low back pain: A protocol for meta-analysis.
Several studies reported that traditional Chinese mind-body exercises showed beneficial effects on improving anxiety and depression of patients with low back pain (LBP) in recent years. However, the effects of traditional Chinese mind-body exercises on improving psychological disorders of patients with LBP remain controversial. Most previous reviews only focused on the effects of traditional Chinese mind-body exercises for LBP on pain and dysfunction. Therefore, the present systematic review and meta-analysis will be conducted to evaluate the evidence on psychological effects of traditional Chinese mind-body exercises for LBP. ⋯ INPLASY202130075.
