Meta Analysis
Operative treatments for osteochondral lesions of the talus in adults: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
This systematic review aimed to identify the available evidence regarding the comparative effectiveness and safety of various operative treatments in adult patients with osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT). ⋯ Cartilage regeneration and cartilage repair plus regeneration had significant superiority in improving the ankle function and radiological evaluation of OLT, although the trials included did not have high-level evidence. Moreover, which treatment between the 2 was safer could not be addressed in this review as most of the trials did not report the safety outcome. Further studies are needed to define the best surgical option for treating OLT.

Esophagectomy is a major surgery with a high degree of catabolic and post-surgical inflammatory response accompanied by high morbidity and significant mortality. Post-surgical nutritional support via enteral administration of ω-3 fatty acids has been seen to be effective although its bad tolerance. There are few clinical trials with parenteral ω-3 fatty acids in these patients. We propose to investigate the effect of combining a parenteral fish oil lipid emulsion with the standard enteral nutrition (EN) support. ⋯ Studies of ω-3 fatty acids administered parenterally in esophagectomized patients are scarce. This study proposes to investigate the effect of combining fish-oil lipid emulsions administered parenterally with EN support. Potential benefits include fast incorporation of lipids to the cellular membranes and to the inflammatory cascade, and the use of only 1 pharmaconutrient.

Meta Analysis
Treatments of unruptured brain arteriovenous malformations: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The best therapeutic option for unruptured brain arteriovenous malformations (bAVMs) patients is disputed. ⋯ We found that microsurgery might provide lasting clinical benefits in some unruptured bAVMs patients for its high obliteration rates and low hemorrhage. These findings are helpful to provide a reference basis for neurosurgeons to choose the treatment of patients with unruptured bAVMs.

Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) is a systemic, autoimmune, prothrombotic disease characterized by persistent antiphospholipid antibodies, thrombosis, recurrent abortion, complications during pregnancy, and occasionally thrombocytopenia. At present, there is no consensus on the treatment of this disease. Long-term anticoagulation is recommended in most cases in patients with thrombotic APS. This study aimed to evaluate whether aspirin combined with low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) can improve the live birth rate in antiphospholipid syndrome and its correlation with D-dimer. ⋯ Aspirin combined with LMWH for APS may improve live birth rate, and detection of d-dimer levels in APS pregnant women may predict pregnancy complications and guide the use of anticoagulants.
