Animal, cell, and in vitro studies have been applied to simulate the human gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and evaluate the behavior of biomolecules. Understanding the peptides and/or proteins stability when exposed to these physiological conditions of the GIT can assist in the application of these molecules in the treatment of diseases such as obesity. This study describes a protocol of systematic reviews to analyze the methodologies that mimic the digestive and absorptive processes of peptides and/or proteins. ⋯ Both systematic reviews resulting from this protocol will provide subsidies for the construction of research related to the clinical application of bioactive peptides and/or proteins. In this context, they will make it possible to understand the gastrointestinal processes during administering these molecules, as the gastrointestinal environment can affect its functionality. Therefore, validating the effectiveness of these protocols is important, as it mimics in vitro biological conditions, reducing the use of animals, being consistent with the reduction, refine and replace program.

Cerebral small vessel disease is relevant to hypertension. We tried to figure out whether antihypertensive treatment is beneficial for this disease. ⋯ Antihypertensive treatment is beneficial for cerebral small vessel disease on white matter hyperintensities progression, but no impact on brain atrophy. And lower SBP level is more effective on the progression of WMH. There is not enough evidence to prove the relationship between antihypertensive treatment and lacunar stroke, microbleeds.

Multicenter Study Comparative Study
Symptom control after different duration of triptorelin treatment following conservative surgery for deep infiltrating endometriosis: Post-hoc analysis of a multicentre, prospective, real-world study.
Triptorelin has been used after surgery in deep infiltrating endometriosis. This post-hoc analysis aimed to evaluate symptom control between patients receiving 1-3 triptorelin injections and those receiving 4-6 injections within 24 months of conservative surgery for deep infiltrating endometriosis, in the real-world. Included patients were divided into two groups (received up to 3 months injections in group A, 4-6 injections in group B) based on the numbers of triptorelin (Diphereline, 3.75 mg intramuscular injection once every 28 days for up to 24 weeks) administration. ⋯ There is no significant difference for 12-months and 24-months cumulative recurrence rates of total symptoms between both groups (11.3% vs 13.8%, P = .568 and 16.1% vs 26.0%, P = .094). In women with deep infiltrating endometriosis, longer treatment with triptorelin following conservative surgery was associated with a decrease in symptom intensity and greater improvement of pain symptoms in the short-term and greater improvement of gastro-intestinal symptoms in the long-term. Trial registration number: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT01942369.

Meta Analysis
Prognostic value of HHLA2 expression in solid tumors: A meta-analysis based on the Chinese population.
Human endogenous retrovirus-H long terminal repeat-associating protein 2 (HHLA2), a newly discovered member of the B7 family, is overexpressed in numerous tumors. However, the prognostic impact of HHLA2 in human cancers remains controversial. Thus, we performed this meta-analysis to explore the prognostic value of HHLA2 in Chinese patients with solid tumors. ⋯ HHLA2 may serve as a potential prognostic biomarker for solid tumors in Chinese population, by predict the prognosis of cancer patients based on their tumor types.

The main purpose of this study was to investigate current state of constipation for lung cancer (LC) patients receiving platinum-based chemotherapy. The relationships between social demography, clinical variables, psychological status, and constipation were analyzed. In addition, quality of life (QoL) in LC patients with constipation was also analyzed. ⋯ Reduced food intake and fatigue were the independent factors. Constipation significantly affects the QoL of the patients. Therefore, more attention should be paid to the risk factors of constipation in LC patients undergoing platinum-based chemotherapy, the earlier intervention was done to these patients, the better to improve their QoL.
