Previous research indicates that the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) may be an indicator of poor prognosis in many tumor types. However, the PLR is rarely described in patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) for solid tumors. Thus, we performed a meta-analysis to investigate the prognostic value of this ratio for patients with solid tumors treated by NAC. ⋯ Elevated PLR is associated with poor prognosis in various solid tumors. PLR may be a useful biomarker in delineating those patients with poorer prognoses who may benefit from neoadjuvant therapies.

Rational emotive occupational health coaching for quality of work-life among primary school administrators.
This study aimed at investigating the effect of rational emotive occupational health coaching on quality of work-life among primary school administrators. ⋯ This study concluded rational emotive occupation health coaching is useful therapeutic strategy in improving quality of work of primary school administrators, hence, future researchers and clinical practitioners should adopt cognitive-behavioral techniques and principles in helping employers as well as employees. Based on the primary findings and limitations of this study, future studies, occupational psychotherapists should qualitatively explore the clinical relevance of rational emotive occupational health practice across cultures using different populations.

Changes in tapered endotracheal tube cuff pressure after changing position to hyperextension of neck: A randomized clinical trial.
Endotracheal tube (ETT) with a tapered-shaped cuff had an improved sealing effect when compared to ETTs with a conventional cylindrical-shaped cuff. Positional change and neck movement typically displace an ETT and change the intracuff pressure. The aim of the current study was to compare the ETT cuff pressure in the TaperGuard ETT vs the conventional ETT after a change from the supine, neutral position to the extension of the neck and semi-Fowler position for thyroid surgery. ⋯ After the position change from supine to hyperextension of the neck, the ETT cuff pressure was higher in the TaperGuard ETT than in the conventional ETT, although the extent of displacement of the ETT was comparable between the 2 groups.

Meaning in life (MiL) is regarded as a valuable indicator of positive functioning in terms of an understanding of one's purpose in life, well-being, and professional commitment. As such, it is important to improve MiL for the stability of nursing staff. General self-efficacy is a significant predictor of both MiL and nursing professional commitment. ⋯ However, self-efficacy was not related to nursing professional commitment (B = 0.12, P = .01). We therefore suggest that MiL has a complete mediating role between self-efficacy and nursing professional commitment among Chinese nursing students. In this study, we confirmed the complete mediation of nursing professional commitment by MiL in nursing students, thus providing scientific evidence that could be beneficial for the development of interventions to increase nursing professional commitment.

To evaluate the duration of topical brimonidine therapy before the onset of brimonidine-related allergic conjunctivitis and the clinical characteristics associated with the development of brimonidine allergy. We retrospectively enrolled patients who presented brimonidine allergy from December 1, 2008 to November 30, 2020. The duration of brimonidine treatment, concomitant medications, benzalkonium chloride (BAK) exposure, change in IOP, and season of onset were evaluated.292 patients were included, among which 147 were female and 145 were male. ⋯ The presence of BAK did not affect the duration either. When brimonidine allergy occurred, there was a loss of IOP control, especially in patients receiving brimonidine monotherapy. It is recommended to switch to other types of glaucoma medications for better IOP control.
