Aristolochic acid nephropathy: A scientometric analysis of literature published from 1971 to 2019.
Aristolochic acid nephropathy (AAN) is a type of drug-induced nephropathy that may result in acute kidney injury and is associated with a potentially progressive course of kidney fibrosis and upper tract urothelial carcinoma. Aristolochic acids (AAs) are a group of toxins commonly present in plants of the genera Aristolochia and Asarum, which are found worldwide. AAN still occurs in Asian and Balkan regions. The progressive lesions and mutational events initiated by AAs are irreversible, and no effective therapeutic regimen for AAN has been established. Furthermore, more people are at risk of this disease due to casual exposure to AAs. This study performed a scientometric analysis of global research literature focusing on AAN. ⋯ This study indicated that AAN is a significant topic in nephrology research, as shown by the large number of publications. The literature has mainly focused on the mechanisms of AA-induced nephropathy.

There has been increased use of self-expandable metal stents (SEMS) in treating malignant colorectal obstruction (MCO). The aim of this study was to investigate factors that are associated with the outcomes of SEMS placement for MCO. Clinical data from patients who underwent SEMS placement for MCO at 6 hospitals in Honam province of South Korea between 2009 and 2018 were reviewed retrospectively. ⋯ Stage IV colorectal cancer and the use of covered stent were significant independent predictive factors for the development of complications after SEMS placement (OR 2.428 (95% CI 1.407-4.188); P = .001 and OR 3.329 (95% CI 2.060-5.378); P < .001, respectively). Longer length of obstruction, the use of covered stent, and longer procedure time were associated with lower clinical success rates. Having stage IV colorectal cancer and the use of covered stents were associated with an increased risk of complications.

Prognostic significance of molecular subtype, metastatic site and primary tumor surgery for survival in primary metastatic breast cancer: A SEER-based study.
The incidence of primary metastatic breast cancer (PMBC) has not decreased despite the increasing popularity of mammography screening and data on the survival among these patients are limited. Therefore, we conducted an extensive population-based study to investigate the factors influencing the survival of patients with PMBC. We identified 14,306 patients with de novo stage-IV breast cancer using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results data from 2010 to 2015. ⋯ The incidence of distant visceral metastasis in the whole cohort was as follows: bone, lung, liver, and brain. This study also substantiated that patients with only brain metastasis had poorer survival than patients with metastasis at multiple sites metastasis, not including brain metastasis (P < .0001). This study confirmed that molecular subtypes, metastatic site and primary tumor surgery were associated with the survival of PMBC patients.

Serum pepsinogen II levels are doubled with Helicobacter pylori infection in an asymptomatic population of 40,383 Chinese subjects.
Pepsinogen (PG) I and II are crucial in the gastric digestive processes. This study is to examine the relationship of serum PGI, PGII, and PGI/PGII ratio with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection, age, sex, and body mass index (BMI) in subjects in Beijing, China. A total of 40,383 asymptomatic subjects, who underwent medical examination in Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital, were included in this study. ⋯ The levels of the two serum PGs were decreased and the ratio increased when BMI were higher than 28 kg/cm2 (P < .05). The levels of serum PGI, especial PGII, were increased by Hp infection, and also influenced by age, sex, and BMI. Therefore, these influencing factors should be considered during clinical practice.

The correlation between mental health status, sleep quality, and inflammatory markers, virus negative conversion time among patients confirmed with 2019-nCoV during the COVID-19 outbreak in China: An observational study.
The 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has spread to the whole world. Psychological and sleep problems among confirmed patients have drawn extensive attention which may be highly related to immune function and inflammatory responses of people. The aim of this study is to examine the correlation of mental health status, sleep quality, and inflammatory markers, virus negative conversion time (NCT) among confirmed patients during the COVID-19 outbreak. ⋯ The level of inflammation in patients with psychological and sleep problems was higher than that in patients without corresponding problems. The inflammatory level increased with the increase of Self-Rating Depression Scale score, and the lymphocyte count decreased with the increase of the PSQI score. NCT was prolonged in the anxiety group and sleep disturbance was positively correlated with NCT.
