To describe the outcome of the patients with cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) during pregnancy and postpartum treated with anticoagulant therapy. ⋯ Pregnancy-related CVST patients had severer condition before treatment, but can achieve comparable recovery rate at 12 months after anticoagulant therapy with non-pregnancy-related women. Pregnancy-related patients with poor prognosis had less sinus sigmoid occlusion, more coma, high mRS at admission.

Due to the rarity of solitary bone plasmacytoma (SBP), few studies reported the prognosis and survival predictors of SBP, especially for patients with extremity SBP. A total of 552 patients with extremity SBP were identified from the Surveillance Epidemiology and Ends Results (SEER) database between 1973 and 2016. In order to obtain independent predictors of survival, we performed both univariate and multivariate analysis via Cox proportional hazards model. ⋯ Our findings highlight that radiotherapy is the mainstream treatment for extremity SBP. Additionally, age, year of diagnosis, and marital status were significant independent predictors of survival. Knowledge of these survival predictors may help clinicians provide appropriate management for extremity SBP patients.

Comparative analysis of the effects of AO mini-plate and Kirschner wire pinning in the metacarpal fractures: A retrospective study.
The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical effect of AO miniplate screw internal fixation and Kirschner wire (KW) in the treatment of metacarpal fractures. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 590 metacarpal fracture patients admitted to our hospital from March 2016 to March 2019. Among them, 290 patients were treated with KWs; 300 were treated with AO microplate internal fixation. ⋯ Compared with KW fixation, AO mini-plate and screw fixation for the metacarpal fracture has a better effect, which can effectively shorten the operation time and reduce the trauma to patients. It can provide patients with better stability and realize the early movement of the palm, promote fracture healing and joint function recovery; it can reduce the incidence of postoperative complications, which has certain safety. In addition, it can effectively reduce the risk of poor finger rotation.

Dysphagia is a commonly occurring condition in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients after radiotherapy. There has been an increasing number of studies focused on assessing the use of acupuncture to manage dysphagia. Moreover, the quality of the research has gradually increased. The present research will be conducted to systematically evaluate the efficiency and safety of using acupuncture to treat cases of dysphagia after radiation therapy in NPC patients. ⋯ May 19, 2021.osf.io/f2cvt. To assess the maximal lymph nodal diameter on the 8th edition American Joint Committee on Cancer staging system of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). This study extracted NPC patients between 2004 and 2016 in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. Included patients were divided into 3 groups: ≤3 cm, >3-6 cm, and >6 cm based on the maximal lymph nodal diameter. ⋯ In contrast, the 5-year OS and CSS were different between >6 cm and ≤3 cm groups, and between >6 cm and >3-6 cm groups. The stratified hazard ratio of OS and CSS was 1.75 (95% confidence interval: 1.25-2.45; P = .001) and 1.77 (95% confidence interval: 1.20-2.60; P = .004) for the >6 cm group in the multivariate regression analysis. It is reasonable that the maximal lymph nodal diameter with >6 cm is classified as stage N3 of the 8th edition American Joint Committee on Cancer staging system for NPC.
